Check out the work of Nadia Siddiqui & @SGorard re the impact of grammar schools on disadvantaged learners & their wider work re education & disdvantage. Affluent parents won't just sit back & watch Eton w/out trying to exploit the situation......

The pull of Eton is likely to take staff from existing providers which then threatens current providers' offer & potential viability. There's a recruitment issue in education & especially in FE where years of underinvestment has led to suppressed salaries.

Eton will cherry pick a few learners each year - what about the 000s who don't & will never have the opportunity? As as nation, why are we obssessed with 'elite' & why do we only see 'elite' through this narrow lens?

In 2016, the govt conducted an area review for post-16 education in the TV. This type of provision was not recommended, in fact the opposite (consolidation of provision) was.
If investment is to be made, why not invest in the current infrastructure? All TV post-16 providers are 'good' or better & the govt's own findings highlight the ROI of our work.
