Joyland (2022) is a Punjabi-language film featuring a trans main character. It received a standing ovation at Cannes & the Queer Palm award. It is also Pakistan’s submission to the Oscars. One week before release, it’s been banned in Pakistan—you can guess why. #ReleaseJoyland
The director, Saim Sadiq, called this a “grave injustice” and has asked for support to get this film to its intended audience. South Asia has few globally-acclaimed films and even fewer ones with representation. Here is a link to the director’s post. instagram.com/p/Ck6CNP5Mrlr/…
We have a lot of Pakistani followers. As an LGBT South Asian film person, this is also an issue very close to my heart. Just wanted to bring awareness to it. Limiting comments in advance bc of the bigotry in the tags. 🪐
Jungkook is wearing a shirt from one Ajobyajo—one of my personal favorite brands, one of the few labels in Korea that openly supports LGBTQ individuals and identity. JK (and other members of BTS) have worn their designs multiple times over the past years.
Yoongi and Jungkook specifically used to wear the brand a lot in 2017/2018! With variations of the mixed check shirt especially, there’s also another black & yellow one that they both wore. Their clothes are really cool and often unisex, I’m in love w/ the brand’s style :)
This shirt had a grip on idols a few years ago…I own a knockoff version of it 😭😭 Also pictured: JK in the same white shirt earlier this year.
For the poster, we put white text on a blue background and played around with texture overlays. That is one way to do it digitally! Explore with watercolor, ink, pens, markers, blue pencils...it'll be fun to see everyone's interpretations of themselves/their love for NJ :) <3
Happy birthday to Academy Award winning animator and director, Hayao Miyazaki ✨
Born January 5th of 1941, Miyazaki grew up in the post-war era with a love for animation at an early age. As he went into university, he studied political science and economics, but remained dedicated on pursuing a career in manga.
By the age of 22, he got a job at Toei Animation as an in-between artist for the feature length film, Watchdog Bow Wow (1963) and worked as a key animator on Hustle Punch (1965).
His first debut film was Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979), which was distributed by Toei.
