My 2 bits on #HimachalPradeshelections2022 it will be a close race, with BJP getting a simple majority.
Basically there are 3 main divisions in the state and shall be looking at each division specifically.
Kangra- Largest division of HP, with 25 seats, last time BJP swept here with 18 seats. This division contains districts of Chamba, Kangra,Una.
Kangra district is the most crucial of all with 15 seats, basically who leads here, wins Himachal.
Last time BJP won 10/15 seats in Kangra dt, this time it would be a more closer race with BJP just about edging Congress here. Overall prediction for Kangra division this time
BJP-15, Congress-10
Mandi division covering districts of Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti has around 24 seats, last time BJP swept here winning 18, but Congress likely to come back strong here, and this would be another close contest. Overall prediction
BJP-13 , Congess-11
Shimla division covering districts of Shimla, Kinnaur, Sirmaur and Solan has traditionally been a Congress bastion, due to presence of leaders like Virbhadra Singh from here. Even in 2017 Congress won 10 out of the 19 seats here, and it looks to maintain it's dominance.
While BJP has been trying to put up a fight in Shimla division, Congress likely to maintain it's hold this time too here.
My prediction for this
BJP-7 Congress-11, Others-1
Overall prediction for #HimachalPradeshelections2022 this time division wise.

Kangra-BJP(15), Congress(10)

Mandi-BJP(13),Congress(11)

Shimla-BJP(7),Congress(11),Others(1)

Total-BJP(35),Congress(32),Others(1).
Like Uttarakhand, BJP might just buck the trend of Govts changing every 5 years in #HimachalPradesh too, had it not been for rebels and Congress promise on Old Pension Scheme, it would have won quite comfortably too.

I had earlier looked at the origins of Ahoms in my previous thread. Today will be taking a look at their long conflict with the Mughals, and history of their resistance.
While we do known about the long Maratha-Mughal war, not much is known about the long history of Ahom resistance to Mughal rule from 1615 when their kingdom was atttacked by Abu Bakr to the Battle of Itakhuli in 1682 that saw a decisive Ahom victory.
There were 18 major conflicts between the Ahoms and Mughals, out of which only one in 1663 was a major victory for the latter. In most other conflicts, the Ahoms either routed the Mughals and sent them back, or even if the Mughals won, they could not hold on for long.

Bhagavan Birsa Munda who led a tribal uprising against the British rule in Jharkhand, only tribal leader whose portrait hangs in Central Hall of Parliament and whose Jayanti is celebrated as #JharkhandDay #BirsaMunda #BirsaMundaJayanti Image
One of the more ignored aspects of the Indian freedom struggle has been the various tribal revolts that broke out against the British rule. Tribals were prohibited from cutting trees for firewood, their traditional Podu cultivation was banned.
They were often exploited by contractors who used them as labor for building roads in those areas. Many protests broke out in the tribal areas of Eastern Indian, notably Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Western Odisha, Bengal, one of the more famous one was that of Birsa Munda

The Ahoms, a kingdom with it's own unique culture, who put up one of the toughest resistance ever to Muslim rule. The last frontier, which Aurangzeb could not conquer. In a series of threads, will be looking at their origin and background, that would help in understanding them.
The Ahoms were primarily descendants of Tai who are found all over China, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. The culture they follow is pretty much a mix of the original Tai culture, Tibetan, Burmese and elements of Hinduism.
The Ahoms assimilated into Hinduism, adopted many native Indian practices, retaining some of the original Tai traditions too. They practice a kind of Hinduism that is more based on their Furalung religion, which does not believe in a specific God.

Veer Kunwar Singh, one of the heroes of the 1857 Revolt, who at 80 years, led the rebellion in Bihar and Eastern UP. And gave one of the toughest fights ever to the British, constantly harassing them till his end.
Thread on his Jayanti today.
Kunwar Singh belonged to the Ujjainiya Rajput clan, who are primarily found in Bihar- Eastern UP. They claim descent from Raja Bhoj, and in fact Bhojpur region gets it's name from this. Most of the Purbiya soldiers known for their martial skills were from this clan.
What is currently regarded as the Bhojpuri region is primarily Purvanchal or Eastern UP, and the Western part of Bihar, bordering Mithila and Magadha. This region of Bihar was primarily one single district Shahabad, that was bifurcated in 1972 into Bhojpur and Rohtas( Sasaram).

Thread on his death anniversary today. Image
His ancestors, had migrated long back from the Malwa region in Madhya Pradesh. Their real surname was Chaturvedi, but due to their region of origin, they adopted the surname of Malaviya.
His father Pandit Vrajanath, was a pious Brahmin who earned his living by reciting the Srimadh Bhagavata( a collection of tales on Krishna). It was his only source of income, and quite meager to support himself or his family.
