Simply put, a market index tracks the performance of a chosen group of assets.
In the case of ST Market Data we wanted to understand how various baskets of assets in the #Sorare ecosystem have performed...
2/ We start off by looking at three key metrics:
-Market Cap
-Number of Cards
-Average Valuations
These can be further disaggregated by:
-Sport (Football, NBA, Baseball)
-League (Champion, Challenger, America, Asia)
-Rarity (Limited, Rare, Super Rare, Unique)
3/ Let's do a quick dive into the three key metrics
Market Cap is simply:
ST ETH Valuation x Number of cards for a player
Looking at total market cap, we see the peak of 229,679 ETH (~$283MM) vs. 199,958 ETH (~$250MM) today (-13% ETH/-11.5% USD)
4/ What about number of cards?
This is all cards available through Sorare through:
-1st party auction sales
-So5 rewards
-Referral rewards
-3rd party rewards
As you would imagine, this chart is up and to the right 📈
5/ And finally, what about average card valuation?
This seems like a pretty important metric right?
For all sports, from the peak of ~6.16 ETH to today's average of 4.65 ETH we see a decrease of -24.5% ETH.
6/ For uniques, we see about the same amount of price change (5.51 ETH at the peak and around 4.16 ETH today) with relatively little volatility
7/ For Super Rare, Rare, and Limited we see much more volatility over time and sharper decreases in value from their peaks to today...
8/ This is just a small sampling of ways to look at Market Data, and we plan to roll out even more features to track your performance against the broader Sorare market.
