Fmr. US SoS @mikepompeo joins virtually for a talk with ex-US Amb. An Hoyeong. On 🇨🇳 influence, he says it is already entrenched, & states worldwide must push the CCP back from inside their gates. Also, “🇨🇳 wants every nation to be a vassal state that pays it tribute & homage”

On North Korea, says that Trump failed to achieve denuclearization in the #DPRK, but the admin. delivered more certainty, which Biden has failed to continue.

When asked to explain what he means by ‘certainty,’ he says there was an implicit understanding that Kim would not engage in nuclear testing in exchange for less resources being expended by the US on joint military exercises.

He says KJU understood the US was serious about enforcing sanctions & many ships were stopped, cutting off the North’s access to valuable resources. Over time, enforcement would have reaped great benefits. Biden walked away from this, and is not remotely as serious re. sanctions.

Emphasizes that North Korea’s nuclear weapons program remains in place because the Chinese Communist Party allows it to be there. Says the Chinese play footsie and provide tools to sustain it, creating risk in the region.

Calls on Biden to make clear that Chinese actions are unacceptable and impose real costs on the CCP to bring Kim Jong Un to heel.

On climate change, says that efforts must be rooted in science and facts. Affordable alternatives to oil and gas are not yet a reality. Thinks it is indecent to force the world’s poorest states to adopt expensive, renewable energy sources whose cost will starve their ppl to death
