DH/BAT+ chapter 2 released today in Japanese!

The chapter opens in Chuuouku as Ichijiku reports to Otome that she’s finished various aspects of DRB prep. With two extra teams, this DRB is promised to be even more entertaining than the last. But what’s Rei thinking, joining the Osaka Division team? #hypspoiler

Otome says that, regardless of what he’s up to, their plans stay the same. It’s up to Chuuouku to play witness to these miniature battles.

Speaking of battles and the Osaka crew, Dotsuitare Honpo isn’t doing too hot in the prelims when Roshou takes a fall. #hypspoiler

As Sasara goes to worry over him, Rei steps in to take care of the rest of the battle. They both offer to let Roshou sit the rest out, but he refuses their offer. He struggles back to his feet, ready to fight in spite of his awareness of the crowd’s eyes on him. #hypspoiler

Later, after mopping the floor with their opponent, Dotsu Hon heads back to their dressing room. Sasara and Rei are in fine spirits after their victory. Roshou…not so much, especially when Rei jokes about his stage fright. Sasara slaps Rei upside the head for that. #hypspoiler

Then he takes Rei aside and whispers in his ear. Can’t he tell Sasara’s pretending to be chipper so Roshou won’t feel down? Rei goes, “Huh, really? Doesn’t seem to be working.” Nonsense! A pro comedian’s gift of the gab would never let him down. #hypspoiler

Here, Roshou interjects (Sasara exaggeratedly jumps and goes, “You were listening?!”) and refutes Sasara. The two start clowning around in their usual fashion (courtesy of Sasara) before Rei interrupts. Not to stick his nose into their business, but… #hypspoiler

…Isn’t Roshou’s stage fright taking a toll on their friendship? Roshou looks surprised, but Sasara slings an arm around Roshou’s shoulders and goes, “Nah, no way!” Yet Roshou looks away, uncomfortable. He’s not as quick to agree… #hypspoiler

Rei watches him for a moment before going, “Well, if you say so!”
S: Yeah, Roshou and I are the best duo ever, right, buddy?
R: Y-yeah, you know it…
Roshou excuses himself at this point to go home. #hypspoiler

Before he can make it to the door, though, Sasara calls him back. “Hey, even if you’re not in top form, so long as you have the Almighty Sasara on your side, you'll be carried along to the big leagues!” Roshou forces himself to smile on his way out. #hypspoiler

That smile fades as soon as the door is closed, and he walks home reflecting on their friendship.

Later, Sasara is live on a TV show (drinking his favorite melon cream soda) when the show host draws him into a bit about winning the DRB. #hypspoiler

Sasara hits them with a particularly bad gag, and the audience is stone cold silent…before bursting into laughter anyway. Sasara thinks about Roshou as he eats up the attention. Maybe the comedy thing didn’t work, but at least Sasara’ll give him stardom in the DRB! #hypspoiler

Speaking of Roshou, his students crowd around him before class to congratulate him on his prelim victory. As he starts to teach, his students whisper that he seems even more anxious than normal. Is something wrong? #hypspoiler

When class is over, Roshou heads back to the staff lounge, but he can’t even catch a break there as his fellow teachers likewise offer him congrats and tell him to knock ‘em dead. Roshou’s a ball of nerves all the way until it’s time to home. #hypspoiler

The comments of “We know you’ll do great!” keep ringing in his head. It brings him back to when he was a kid and people telling him the same. He remembers a moment in elementary school when he “only” scored 98% on a test due to a careless mistake. #hypspoiler

In the memory, his mother revokes his gaming privileges and makes him spend more time in cram school until he’s earning a full 100 in all subjects. After all…she knows he can do great. And isn’t he aware that this is all for his own good? #hypspoiler

Roshou had no free time at all by middle school, and no matter how hard he worked, his mother wouldn’t recognize his efforts. No wonder he eventually rebelled and became a punk. As Roshou continues his trip down memory lane, he passes by a shop selling TVs. #hypspoiler

Sasara’s on screen, advertising his show. The sight pains Roshou. At this rate, he’s just going to end up dragging Sasara down again.

Speaking of Sasara, Roshou’s lights are on when he gets home… and he knows what THAT means. #hypspoiler

He marches in, ready to give Sasara a piece of his mind, only to find… Rei?! Rei’s having a one-man drinking party in Roshou’s living room, and now Roshou marches over REALLY ready to give him a piece of his mind. What the hell is he doing here? #hypspoiler

It turns out that Rei has a comical number of copies of Roshou’s keys too, courtesy of their mutual pal. Roshou’s so done with this guy at this point that he just accepts defeat. Rei invites him to drink, too; the sake’s not as bad as it looks. #hypspoiler

Wait, isn’t that Roshou’s sake? “Well, excuse me for being cheap!” snaps Roshou. At any rate, while Rei pours him a glass, Roshou asks what he’s doing here. What, can’t a teammate stop by for a drink? Nope. Roshou doesn’t trust him. Rei must have some ulterior motive. #hypspoiler

Oh, ye of little faith! Well, tbh, Rei was thinking that Roshou might want to drown his sorrows due to that slip-up at the prelim. Roshou tells him to shut up but accepts the cup of sake anyway. He finally starts to grin as the two toast. #hypspoiler

As he’s about to drink, Rei asks if there’s anyone Roshou respects. Roshou scratches the back of his neck and gets a big ol’ goofy grin on his face. He hates to admit it, but…Sasara, you know? He’s everything that Roshou’s not. #hypspoiler

Sheepish, Roshou turns the question back on Rei. Rei takes a swig from his drink and then admits that yeah, he does, but that person passed on. Roshou feels bad for asking, but Rei laughs it off. It’s no big deal. But Roshou’s still feeling down. #hypspoiler

Has Rei ever wanted that person to be proud of him? Rei says that everyone wants to feel like people view them in a good light, but that’s not what Roshou’s talking about, huh? If he’s talking about a specific person… #hypspoiler

Rei pauses and then jokes that he only just then realized he needs to get going. Roshou tries to get him to come back and finish the conversation, but Rei tells him that Roshou needs to figure the rest out for himself –only then will it do Roshou any good. #hypspoiler

Rei swaggers out, leaving a very confused-looking Roshou behind him. As he walks away, he thinks that Sasara and Roshou don’t have what it takes at the moment to win the DRB. But it’s up to them to make a change. #hypspoiler
