The meeting to prohibit and condemn conversion "therapy" went well. But not as I hoped...

There will be complications. It was said that it may, or may not come to a vote. You know what I say to that? The lives of our #LGBTQIA+ youth need to be protected!

On November 7th a resolution came to city council. It was to affirm support for an individual's right to make basic, fundamental choices about their own reproductive health. (Not sure if it was passed yet)

One councilmember voted no, due to religious reasons. (2/6) 🧵

But first, that councilmember voted yes by accident because there was a motion to reconsider his vote.

My Mayor had implied that, that same councilmember might have an issue with the ordinance that would prohibit and condemn conversion therapy. (3/6) 🧵

Now one councilmember's vote may not be a problem, the problem here could be if my Mayor decides to do this or not although he voiced his full support on such ordinance. He's going to a meeting in Columbus sometime in December with 30 other Ohioan Mayors to discuss this. (4/6) 🧵

And said he'll call me with updates and to expect, if it's decided or not, for such ordinance to prohibit and condemn conversion therapy to come to a vote early 2023.

What do I do now? I can't sit around and wait, I'll have to be proactive and gain community support. (5/6) 🧵

I'm not going to give up a fight like this, I will stand my ground to get this ordinance passed and will make sure it does. I understand getting legislation passed is hard but if it's hard, I'll work harder. Thank you ALL for your support on this, it means a lot! (6/6) 🧵
