it's puzzling to me that allie brosh doesn't seem to be brought up very often in relation to the current "hashtag relatable" comic aesthetic. as far as i can tell she did it first, and she did it better than anyone

her stuff is great because she doesn't just have one trick, there's plenty of imagination and raw and twisted stuff

#relatable comics are better with bleeding eyeballs.

posting these out of context just to showcase the art, but they're much more entertaining in the actual posts. they aren't strictly so much comics as story illustrations.

i love her demented dog drawings. they're not just funny but they're super observed and specific to HER dog.

this is good because it's entirely personal. if her work feels "relatable" it's because she communicates so effectively through her drawings

“moving day” is said to be the big art babbitt breakthrough with goofy’s personality animation but i can't say i find it very entertaining Image
on the other hand the *previous* art babbitt goofy breakthrough, “mickey’s service station,” is excellent Image
i love this insanely detailed animation of peg leg pete’s car. even in the black and white mickey cartoons they weren’t ones to skimp at the walt disney studio! animation by eddie strickland. (IDs from hans perks' blog- afilmla.blogspot.com/2009/03/prod-u…) ImageImageImageImage

gonna post some of my favorite animated OPs
“ureshii yokan” (1995) from chibi maruko-chan
animator: masaaki yuasa

i’ve posted this one a couple times already and i will happily post it again. you can never have too much yuasa animation! incidentally momoko sakura herself wrote the lyrics to this
“humming ga kikoeru” (1996) from chibi maruko-chan

animator: hideyuki funakoshi, who also animated the “dangdut reggae” and “b-class dancing” segments in “chibi maruko-chan: my favorite song.” impressively this goes beyond even the yuasa OPs in sheer trippiness
