๐งต*NEW* AHS ICU Numbers updated! Currently 194 (+2) admitted into AHS ICU Beds. With 221 (-2) "OPEN" Beds - 27 Remaining Available - Capacity: 88%. 2 ICU beds have been taken offline, which I'm going to make a safe guess is due to staffing. Lets get this started! 1/
Rimbey Hospital OB Closure, has now been extended until February 2023 as of Friday! The area has been without OB services since September 20th 2021. Sundre, Lac La Biche, Westlock, Three Hills & Whitecourt are among others that remain closed as well. 2/
A Reminder that Cold Lake's Emergency Department, will close tomorrow (Nov 21) from 11pm to 7am November 22nd and again at 11pm on November 23rd until 7am November 24th. Physician shortages in the area are behind the multiple closures this month. 3/
๐งต*NEW* AHS ICU Numbers updated! Currently 182 (+4) admitted into AHS ICU Beds. With 220 "OPEN" Beds - 38 Remaining Available - Capacity: 83%. What a Monday this has been! Let's get through some of the news 1/
AHC (Alberta Children's Hospital) was SLAMMED on Sunday.. According to those who messaged - At one point on Sunday there was 133 in the ER + a huge line outside.. So bad beds were being put in a shower room, in order to get kids into the ER to be seen. 2/
While the AHS website showed a wait time of 3 1/2 hrs - 4+hrs it was taking up to 4hrs at some points just to get TRIAGED! Verbal abuse was being thrown at staff, staff were doing their best while pulling staff from anywhere possible in the hospital. 3/
๐งต*NEW* AHS ICU Numbers.. What goes down must go up? Currently 189 (+21) admitted into AHS ICU Beds. With 220 (-3 Suddenly?) "OPEN" Beds - 31 Remaining Available - Capacity: 86%. LOTS of news on the Hospital front.. Buckle up! 1/
Beaverlodge Hospital ER Department, was closed at 7am this morning and will remain closed until 8am tomorrow (November 8th). AHS was unable to find an available physician to cover. Closest Emergency Department: Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (42KM). 2/
Cold Lake ER will face nightly closures throughout November, due to no physician coverage being available. ER will be closed the following dates - November 9, 11th & 13th from 11pm to 7am daily, November 15th 11pm to 3pm November 16th, November 17th & 18th 7am to 3pm each day. 3/
As of 6pm tonight, Contact Tracing/Case Management has officially ended in the Oilsands... My teams have been laid off, even thought cases are still happening.. It's been a hell of a 17 month fight, that we've been through.. 1/
Pushing ourselves to physical and mental exhaustion, working shifts up to 17hrs a day at times.. Turnaround 2021 was one of the deadliest ones, ever seen in years in this Province. I wish we could have done more, to keep these lives from being lost 2/
But we're just "contact tracers".. We were rarely asked for our feedback, even thought we'd be talking to the families, employees and contractors throughout the last 17 months. I fully blame @jkenney@shandro @JasonCoppingAB & @CMOH_Alberta 3/
If you have to call 911 for an Ambulance this long weekend in Alberta.. PLEASE be patient and kind to the ECO's answering your calls.. They are working as hard as they can, but some center's have had only have 2 ECO's taking calls this week while others dispatch the units. 1/
After you give your location information, and advise what's happening you *may* hear the urgent disconnect speech be given.. Don't panic the hard working dispatchers, are already working on getting you a crew for your call (One may already be on the way). 2/
I honestly think Calgary/Red Deer/Lethbridge/Fort McMurray ECO's should be brought back online to help answer EMS calls.. Dispatching can still be done by AHS EMS, but it would bring more bodies onto the phones.. But that'd make too much sense right? 3/
How bad are things in AHS EMS Dispatch? Well for the first time in 3+ Months the South EMS Communications Director walked into the room, asking a number of staff who just requested to go to casual "What Can I do to change your mind?" 1/
The Deployment manager on shift, looked like he saw a ghost when he came into the room.. This guy literally NEVER Comes in.. and never gives two shits about what's going on.. But suddenly he has to come ask "What can we do???" Is Management finally feeling the pressure? 2/
There are over 30+ ECO's (Emergency Communication Officers) ON LEAVE for the South communications center.. Medical/Mental Health is taking a beating.. 3 FULL TIMERS and 2 CASUALS have quit within the last 48hrs.. ECO's are leaving and taking lower paying jobs, to maintain 3/
