I really hope twitter india makes their own twitter ecosystem. I’ve reached the point where I no longer feel like the world is burning, but instead feel like I’m witnessing a once-in-a-lifetime moment of language evolution and divergence
this is VERY parallel to english’s glocalization, and not coincidental imo that it is india genesising this, indian english is one of the most established world englishes and the one that originated expanding circles theoretical framework of english, cf. work by Braj B. Kachru
what we are witnessing is a colonialist taking over a linguistic ecosystem and thinking he can do colonialist things to it
while not everyone on here tweets in english, the power users in this ecosystem who built it (Black Twitter and journalists) are comprised mostly of people who either speak nonstandard Englishes or set standards for English (and thus know they’re arbitrary)
the response shall be, “fuck you, I do what I want. you don’t fucking control my language. this is mine, and I know it so deeply I will make my own that no longer needs yours”
and that is so beautiful.
elon musk acquiring twitter is a watershed moment in digital linguistics, for it has already triggered digital linguistic diasporas, which will localize their understandings of digital language (as we’ve seen with tumblr speak being different than others) (cc @GretchenAMcC!!)
we are #RazingBabel baby!!!!!!! tbh the full title of my next novella should be “RAZING BABEL: A Documentary”

• local indo-iranian persian denominator number exists
• broader shared indic mathematical system introduces division operator and number that only makes sense in conjunction with operator (numerator)
• conquest of persia replaces indic division operator with arabic one to introduce islamic epistemology for math, but leaves lexical items intact for easier localization
• persianization of hindustani ports that particular snapshot of math to urdu, arriving at OP
today my tattoo removal nurse told me something very helpful, which was when she was working at target and her manager was like, “look, you’re very smart. I know you see the best way to do things. but, they pay by the hour. if they wanted to do it faster, they would.” and like 🤯
she’s also AsAm and is the only nurse I’ve had who knows to warn AsAms about complications specific to us for tattoo removal; she works with light (lasers) on pigment and has been piecing together her own color theory research for how to properly treat POC’s skin
there is very little material available, and she mentioned today that she’s going to try a new wavelength now that my tattooed have lightened to browns, so me being me, I asked what the wavelength was and what colors it targets
I’m beginning to realize my brain speed ticks up toward the end of the year because it starts realizing we’re reaching the end of a cycle/iteration and about to begin a new one, and it tries to cram in as much learning and synthesizing as possible before the next iteration
whether this is destructive or creative depends on my environment at the time. in both 2018 and 2020 I was living with an abusive boyfriend who shamed me for writing, and in 2022 I have a supportive boyfriend who encourages me to work on my writing
there is a reason why I have an alter ego named @DecemberSeas! it is homophonous with “december sees” and “december seize” as well as being pleasant-sounding with with a nice iambic rhythm (like lil waves of water)
