1/ To Tithe or Not To Tithe by Kenneth E. Hagin (culled from Midas touch)
From time to time over the years, people have asked me if the practice of tithing is still valid for the Church today. "The New Testament really says very little about it," they say.
2/ "Should pastors and other ministers preach and encourage tithing with so little New Testament information on the subject. Should Christians be bound by the Old Testament Law?"
3/ It is true that there is very little mention of tithing in the New Testament. Two of the Gospels, Matthew and Luke, report the only recorded incident of Jesus saying anything about it. But in this instance, Jesus clearly affirmed His belief in the practice of tithing:
4/ "Yes, woe upon you,Pharisees& you other religious leaders—hypocrites'. For you time down to the last mint leaf in your garden, but ignore the important things— justice&mercy&faith. Yes,you should tithe, but you shouldn't leave the more important things undone." Matt23:23 (TLB)
5/ Jesus upbraided the hypocritical religious leaders of His day who ignored vitally important parts of the Law such a justice, mercy&faith, while meticulously paying the tithe they owed down to the last leaf in their garden.
6/He was saying that giving money doesn't take the place of living right. God is not as interested in a person's money as He is in his heart. But Jesus did say that a person should tithe.
7/Although the majority of biblical references to the tithe are clearly part of the Old Covenant, the fact of the matter is that tithing was not introduced under the Law. It was merely regulated under the Law.
8/Tithing originated as an act of faith, and faith transcends both the Old and New Covenants! And "by faith" is how we should tithe today—not as an act of legalism, but as an act of faith.
9/ Abram paid tithes to Melchizedek, king of Salem&priest of the Most High, 400years before the time of Moses& the Law. Obviously,he did not pay tithes by legalistic requirement because he lived before the Law. Isaac&Jacob also lived before the Law&paid tithes (Gen18:19,20;28:22)
10/By faith, Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek, the priest of the Most High God, who was a type of Christ. We see this in the Book of Hebrews, which also tells us that, "... Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant" (Heb. 7:22 NIV).
11/Galatians chapter 3 makes some crucially important statements.
"But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us
12/from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. — Galatians 3:11-14
13/So should we pay tithes today? Absolutely! But we pay them like Abraham paid them—not by the Law, but by faith. And besides that, if the people of God paid 10%before the Law& 10% under the Law, should we, who live by grace, be doing any less when we have a better covenant?
14/Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek, the priest of the Most High God, who was a type of Christ. And he received the blessing, which was threefold—spiritual, physical, and material or financial. Because we are redeemed from the curse of the Law by the sacrifice of Christ, we have
15/ received the blessing of Abraham—spiritually, physically&financially. We by faith follow the example of Abraham in paying tithes unto Christ! The Bible says God raised Jesus from the dead& gave Him to be the Head over all things to the Church, which is His Body (Eph 1:22,23).
16/ So when we pay tithes to Christ, the Head, they flow to His Body, the Church. Do you see it? Through the Church, we have the great privilege of giving to Jesus to do His will and work.
17/ I believe if every Christian would be faithful in tithing and giving, there would be more than enough funds for the Church to carry out its mission in the world.
18/ Researchers have found that amazingly few born-again pple tithe regularly& a surprisingly large number give nothing! Imagine what could be accomplished if all Christians were faithful in their tithing& giving! #Tithe#Church#Jesus#NewTestament#Abraham#Melchizedeck

1/17 The world respect and celebrate their own but the church doesn't do this much.
According to a journalist, Nickson Mpofu, Ricky Ross was paid USD175 000 for last night’s performance at HICC. Akaita lip sync for 50 minutes & got away with US$175k.
2/17 I want you to know that this guy is not even anointed by God. His music doesn't bring deliverance, healing& it doesnt even cast out devils. He can't prophesy or give eternal life yet his own honored him with US$175k for lip singing for 50minutes.
3/17 This means he was paid US$3500 per minute by the so called suffering Zimbabweans! Think about it.
1/8 In August 2006 I mastered three things: [1. Never be worried even if the temptation to worry is knocking on your heart & mind. I have never worried about anything since! And I will never worry/be anxious about anything. Instead of worrying about it, I pray to God about it.
2/8 I know the spirit of worry & anxiety will always tempt me to give in to it but am wise and mature enough to say NO. I don't give in to worry/anxieties. I give myself to prayer and the Word continually. Hallelujah!
3/8 [2. Refuse to die prematurely. Paul only agreed to die after he had finished his course. They persecuted him, stoned him to death, and he was in the hands of robbers and thieves but they couldn't kill him. We have a choice to live or to die. Jesus said,
1/ MARRIAGE, SEPERATION, DIVORCE& REMARRIAGE Pt.2 #TakeNote Pls read with an open mind, analyze, compare scriptures&understand in the Spirit.
When Jesus said “what God has joined together, LET NOT MAN PUT ASUNDER” he wasn’t saying that marriage is to be separated only by death...
2/ Or else, he won’t have said that a man is permitted to put away his wife on the grounds of adultery under the OT and Paul won’t have exhorted us in 1 Cor. 7:15 that,
“..if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in SUCH CASES:”
3/ The Greek word for 'put asunder' is chorizo - which also means 'to go away,' 'depart' or 'separate'
Therefore, in letting the scriptures interpret itself, I believe Paul explained what Jesus meant by "let not man put asunder" in 1 Cor. 7:10-11, where he says;
Right now, I don't mind who thinks otherwise. I will share the truth on this subject henceforth, so that believers will be free from the bondage of misinterpretation of scriptures on marriage.
2/ The scripture that has been misunderstood most on divorce is Matthew 19:9,where Jesus SPEAKING TO THE JEWS said,"Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication& shall marry another, committeth adultery&whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery."
3/ When u pick a verse out of context& interpret it independently of other related scriptures,u will surely end in error.
The rule to Bible interpretation is to always ask these questions;
•who is doing the speaking?
•to whom was it spoken to?
•What are they speaking about?
