If you look at the ballot return rates in California, you can see a major problem for BOTH Republicans and Democrats.

The key statistic across almost every district: Latino voters stayed home.

Let me explain why this is bad news for both sides...

For Democrats, Latinos are clearly questioning their loyalty to the party of "wokeness," unlimited abortion, open borders, gender transitions, et. el. They no longer see the Party as a party fighting for the working class.

By staying home, the Democrats lost a large chunk of the electorate that usually carries them over the top. This is why the GOP overperformed across the state.

Now let's get into why this is worrisome for the GOP...

Instead of running on a working-class platform that motivated these voters to show up to the polls and vote Republican, Latinos stayed home. They have an inherent distrust of the GOPe and its platform which they rightly see as tailed to the wealthy...

In a presidential year (2024) it is likely that Latino voters will be more engaged and much more likely to vote.

If the GOP sticks with its desire to revert back to pre-Trumpism, and the Democrats go back to successfully pandering to these voters, it will spell doom for the GOP.

White voter alone will not be enough for the GOP to carry majority Latino districts in 2024 if Latino turnout rebounds. Unless of course, they run on a platform that appeals to these people...
