"unfortunately due to same late changes to Parliamentary business in the House of Commons" is the excuse the UK government are using for not turning up at #OneNorth The Great North Conference and instead sending a flagtastic video from Westminster. Not good enough. 
If our Parliament means that our Government cannot engage with us where we are then it isn't working and it needs to be reformed.
I read quite a lot anti-devolutionary opinion. And I understand the argument. But if we are to be One Nation rules from the centre then the centre has to at least make an effort. And since it doesn't, we need devolution.
North England's transport is controlled in Westminster by people who can't be bothered to get a train to meet us. It's not on. It's why we're poor. It has to change.

There'll be much devolution chat about Scotland today. Look at the alternative. We are committed to the UK. And so the government don't turn up. Complete contempt. A better UK is possible. A big chunk of the shadow cabinet being here shows it's possible. But we're not there now.
One Shadow Minister can't make it. So we get another one. It's not that hard. And we're not in Portrush or Perth or Penrith or Perranporth. We're in Manchester. The centre of the UK. If you can't get someone here from the UK government,... what can you do for anywhere further?
Now we're getting the real video from Dehenna Davison. Which starts with her telling us how Northern she is. But she can't be bothered to come here.
It's dire.
