Lesley has a career spanning 20 yrs which she has dedicated to leading the transformative growth of #Lipspeaking seeing her recognised through multiple awards since 2013 incl shortlist for Police & Crime Commissioners Award for voluntary support for deaf ppple during covid 2/9
She has continually been involved in the overhaul of Lipspeaking qualifications to create the new Level 3 Lipspeaking course used as industry standard today and provides mentoring and CPD to new & existing Lipspeakers. 3/9
Back in 2010, Lesley identified major logistical issues facing Lipspeakers & clients, particularly around efficiency and reducing costs for clients. As a result she set up a hub to communicate & organise jobs for Lipspeakers which then became Lipspeaker UK 4/9
Following this, she became a well respected Lipspeaker with the roles of committee member for ALS, then Treasurer, then Vice-Chair, then Chair. Her worked led to a significant increase in CPD to raise professional standards. 5/9
Lesley has consulted for @SignatureDeaf@NRCPD, taught on successful Lipspeaking courses, and regularly gives her time and expertise to ensure the profession remains current and appropriate for future professionals. 6/9
Before she became a Lipspeaker, Lesley was a qualified Midwife and is now the only one also qualified as a Lipspeaker & #BSLInterpreter and provides learning opportunities to health professionals to raise deaf awareness. 7/9
Lesley has worked with the National Framework Manager for Policing to provide consultation in the creation of new security requirements for language professionals working with police - NPPV3 and has spent over a decade supporting her local constabulary. 8/9
She has also worked tirelessly to raise the profile of Lipspeaking not just in the UK but also Australia, Switzerland, UAE, USA, Poland, Brussels, Paris, Finland & Holland. There are countless other examples but we’d be going on forever 😆 9/9
