Recently, I have been working with some intelligent women who knew that to get repeal of the Gender Recognition Act the timing and the wording of such a campaign was key. 🧡
At the heart of this initiative was a desire to take a niche cause and make it a universal one with mass appeal. A clever approach was needed and it would take time and care to construct it. Time, it turns out, that we did not have.
We had hoped to make progress while attention was diverted to the laudable petition from @SexMattersOrg to get a quick fix to better define the sexes (sign it if you have not done so, yet).
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6232…
That petition is a simple 'quick win' or 'low hanging fruit' and yet at the time of tweeting it has only received 37,000 signatures. Crafting a campaign to get 100,000 for #RepealTheGRA was going to be a challenge.
As mentioned, two key elements in such a campaign would be:
The Wording
The Timing
There would also need to be a campaign engine at least as good as that built by @MForstater for Sex Matters
The Wording: There is a very tight character limit for a Parliamentary Petition. Each word has to be carefully chosen to maximise impact. The whole needs to be a universal call to action. We had barely begun crafting. One thing we did know is that could not be a feminist message.
An overtly feminist message is, unsurprisingly, a turn off for over 60% of men (see YouGov surveys). So when aiming to get an audience, alienating 30% of your potential crowd is not a good starting point. A #RepealTheGRA campaign has to appeal to everyone. And be sellable.
Please don't ask me for what the wording should be, we had barely started to work on it. But I can tell you what it shouldn't be. It shouldn't be this:
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6283…
So, now we have a massive problem. The gun has been jumped. The timing is lousy, but the wording is far, far worse.
And this matters, because we cannot just put a better petition up as part of our campaign. The Petitions Committee will reject it as a duplicate.
This matters because when the timing is right, we shall have to promote that petition. And that petition is going to be much harder to promote because it is coming from just one point of view. It lacks universality. This is like being told to win the golf Open with just a putter.
So that is our challenge, now people.
We have a turd to polish.
This petition is the only game in town.
It is going to be unnecessarily hard work to get it over the line.
But it's all we've got. Hold your nose and sign it.

Without knowing Kellie-Jay Keen, I would not have had the confidence to lead a delegation of parents and journalists into the Tavistock in September 2019. This was but one of many straws applied to the back of the GIDS camel. But it was an important one.
Thank you @StandingforXX

"Comments for this article have been turned off."
So we shall just have to comment here (thread).
thetimes.co.uk/article/i-tran…
This article by @meganagnew need not have been written. Describing, as it does, how a police officer's career slowed down, allegedly because of a transition to imitating the opposite sex.

Careers slow down for many. Developing a narcissistic personality disorder would do it.
Or if the story had to be told, then maybe the 'angle' needed to be different. Perhaps something along the lines of "Police colleagues angry at being forced to humour a delusion."
Shouldn't the Police be naturally averse to having a liar in their midst?

It seems that I am going to have to write an article about the dangers of putting too much store in The Cass Review and the risks of it not delivering an objective report.
Together with an outline of what factors are present that make those risks greater than they should be.
I might use this thread as both a pitch and an aide memoire.
Here is one risk factor.
This is how I think and write about this subject:

This from the UK Government's press release on Banning Conversion Therapy is cause for alarm:
"The proposals will also ensure that regulated clinicians are protected and are able to continue to undertake their valuable work."

If these protections get given to the quack doctors maiming our children, then holding them to account will become even harder than it is now.

There are endocrinologists who recommend wrong-sex hormones - who should be struck off and in prison, and not protected by law.

There are General Practitioners who prescribe and administer wrong-sex hormones, who refer adolescents to 'gender clinics', who refer adolescents for unnecessary surgeries - who should be struck off and in prison, and not protected by law.

The UN has been captured.
Many countries have been captured.
In those countries, often the judiciary, academia, the legislature and the executive, including the police, have been captured.

We have such a long way still to go.

How will we rid ourselves of gender ideology?
We must aim for the summit. The cult of gender which is harming our kids is promoted by the United Nations. In the UK, the @EHRC and @JulianWTO_UN and @BWoodward_UN have a duty to reject this new religion and champion facts, truth and safeguarding.
That gender theory has the approval of the United Nations means it has a veneer of respectability and credibility that it simply does not deserve. It is this unjustified perception of legitimacy that permits states to erode women's rights and sterilise adolescents.
