AWS Lambda is a serverless compute service that runs code in response to events.
For example, you can create a Lambda function that creates thumbnail images when users upload images to Amazon S3. The Lambda event, in this case, will be the user’s uploads.
Once a user uploads an image to Amazon S3, AWS Lambda will automatically run the application and creates a thumbnail for that image.
