BB/MTC+ chapter 17 pat 2 released today in Japanese!

Saburou begins his rap battle with Rei with an onslaught about how Rei ditched his Yamada-ness; he’s just pretending to be their dad now, but he’s not fit for the job. Rei is knocked back by the attack and admires the strength of Saburou’s lyrics. #hypspoiler

But that doesn’t stop Rei from fighting back. He taunts that Saburou is afraid to learn the truth, but if Saburou wants to remain in ignorance, it’s his prerogative. Still, not everything may be as cut and dry as it appears… #hypspoiler

The attack knocks Saburou to the ground, but he’s able to struggle back to his feet as Rei watches him intently. He screams that he’s still got it in him for another round, and as his speaker surges to life around him, he glares at Rei. #hypspoiler

Then he launches yet another attack, refuting each one of Rei’s points from the previous rap. He swears that he’ll find out the truth about their past himself, because he respects Ichirou a hell of a lot more than he respects Rei. #hypspoiler

This knocks Rei down and makes him laugh. When he gets back up to his feet, he puts his mic away and says that he’ll stop there, as going any further would be overkill for a family feud. He says they’ll meet again at the DRB (Saburou goes “?”) and walks away. #hypspoiler

Rei lights a cigarette as he walks along and muses to himself about how strong Saburou’s gotten and how Rei’s done a nasty turn to Ichirou.

Speaking of family feuds, Jirou and Ichirou face each other down in the lobby of their office. #hypspoiler

Jirou’s the first to attack. He raps about how he wants to become his own individual with a peerless style and the usual rap stuff (how cool he is, essentially). The attack makes its mark, but it barely does any damage, much to Jirou’s surprise. #hypspoiler

Then it’s Ichirou’s turn. He fires back with a rap about how Jirou’s just following in his footsteps since Ichirou’s paved the way for him already. Jirou doesn’t have what it takes to match Ichirou. This attack knocks Jirou off his feet, but he’s back up in no time. #hypspoiler

Jirou fires off a counter rap about how he’s ready to overtake Ichirou and put his manly pride on the line here. He may be Ichirou’s little brother, but from now on, he’s going to face Ichirou as an equal—not as a brother, but as a fellow man. #hypspoiler

This knocks Ichirou off his feet now, but he laughs as he gets up, much to Jirou’s surprise. “That was epic, Jirou!” Ichirou says, and Jirou looks like he’s having the shock of his life.

Once back on his feet, Ichirou launches a counter attack. #hypspoiler

The trail Jirou’s taking is the one that Ichirou blazed, but if Jirou doesn’t make his own path, he’s going to be nothing but a flunky for life. This knocks Jirou down and completely exhausts him. He tries and fails to struggle back up right. #hypspoiler

That is, until Ichirou yells, “Come on, it’ll take more than a little thing like that to knock you out, won’t it?” Jirou gulps, staggers upright, and charges at Ichirou yelling that he’s still got it in him.

A few off-screen raps later, Jirou finally falls in defeat. #hypspoiler

Ichirou falls to his knees as well. He won, but just barely. Jirou isn’t upset about this—both brothers are laughing.

And speaking of brothers, here comes brother number 3, who walks in and immediately wonders what the HELL happened here! The raps trashed the place. #hypspoiler

Ichirou sheepishly jokes that it’s a long story and then helps Jirou to his feet. He says he’ll rematch Jirou at any time. Jirou grins and says, “Great! Don’t give me a handicap either.” (Saburou in the BG: Idk what happened, but all’s well that ends well…?) #hypspoiler

Just then, it occurs to him that he should share Ichirou the news about Rei. He tells him that they met just now and that Rei’s going to be in the DRB too. He also gave Saburou a choice, and Saburou chose not to get answers from him. #hypspoiler

But he asks Ichirou what Rei’s talking about. Ichirou says it’s the reason their mom died and the reason why he can’t see eye to eye with Rei now. He chose to split from Rei in order to avenge their mom. Still, Rei’s left Ichirou with more questions than answers. #hypspoiler

Sure, but Saburou reminds Ichirou of something he said a few chapters ago—what’s the good in the truth unless you find it out on your own? Ichirou says he’s working to find the truth on his own, and then let his bros make the choice on if they want to know. #hypspoiler

Jirou says that there may have been some complex shit going down for both Rei and Ichirou, but their mom was his mom too. He really should have heard this earlier, you know? Ichirou acknowledges the truth in that and bows to him in apology. #hypspoiler

But what’s done is done, and Jirou can forgive. Now he’s made his own goal, anyway! Saburou, too, resolves to find the truth on his own. Ichirou is a bit surprised at first and then says he looks up to them both for this. #hypspoiler

When Jirou responds, he no longer calls Ichirou the familial honorific Niichan—instead, he uses Aniki, which indicates that he views Ichirou less like a brother and more like an older figure of respect (the “fight me man-to-man” attitude from earlier). #hypspoiler

Saburou picks up on these and gives Jirou a Look. (Because “Aniki” really is a little overkill. Jirou sounds like one of Samatoki’s underlings talking to Samatoki.) Jirou turns bright red and tells Saburou to stuff it. Oh, but Saburou’s not saying anything…Aniki. #hypspoiler

Jirou tries to catch him and whoop his ass, but Saburou runs away. As the two scuffle, Ichirou can’t help but burst out into the most genuine laughter he’s shown in years. Then he grabs both his siblings and hugs them. The BBs, he promises, are going to win! #hypspoiler

The chapter ends there. BB/MTC+ will be on hiatus in December and will presumably pick up again in January. The ending ad text hints that we’ll begin the DRB chapters at that point in time.
