I can relate with the women sharing their stories #BelowTheBelt so many visits to the ER that I remember the number of times I felt dismissed because "it was normal" bring tears to my eyes...
I wonder whether an earlier diagnosis and treatment would have saved my ovaries...?
4 surgeries later and having lost my ovaries and any chance of conceiving naturally crushes me every day
The whole system is broken
I've come a long way with my Gyn Dr. Charles Muteshi who excised the #Endometriosis
I believe he's one of the few who's listened to many women and now we feel validated that we are not crazy.
Period pain is not normal. The normalization of period pain stems back for years...women are expected to suffer in silence.
It is not a woman's issue... it's a societal issue.
Healthcare systems are underresourced and med students do not to even learn about this.
The training is archaic and only a few gyns understand endometriosis.
While we do not expect the system to turn around tomorrow but we do expect them to convert the interest into action
We pay out of pocket and insurance doesn't work for us
It is a social injustice to deny us treatment
This needs to be fixed @EndoFoundKE
Women's careers are impacted and marriages are broken because of infertility issues related to Endometriosis
We have to bring National attention to this issue
Preserving fertility should be the 1st thing discussed.
Now, I share with women as they prepare to go for surgery to take that into consideration because I wish someone told me that before my 1st surgery 😭
The constant pseudo UTIs because of the thinning vaginal walls
I had all my organs in my pelvic area stuck together and it took about 4 hours to detach and also cause the loss of my ovaries - it was a #frozenpelvis
I thank God for you who have children because I want a mini-Elle to be able to see into their eyes and love them
The fact that I do not have ovaries and cannot have children doesn't take away from my purpose.
Doesn't define me

I have so much to say about gender bias in healthcare #Endometriosis
DYK that if I collapsed and fainted in town that I will not get basic CPR from a bystander than if a man fainted. Okay - a study says it is because people are nervous about handling my chest area.
Also if I got into the ER in pain a man is likely to get attention faster than me while I'll be sedated and the pain not treated or addressed.
