So, @Dropbox @DropboxSupport is holding my data at gunpoint with an unclear legal case. The week before my account was disabled, and since I have plenty of files in online-only sync, I cannot access that data. #GDPR

I am devastated and in full panic mode. 1/n

Note that I have *already* been in a very tough spot mentally, finally dealing with a lot of old baggage that has caught up. And now this.

I inquired why my account was disabled, and it took days of back-and-for them to tell me about TOS violation

Apparently it's a "think of the children" case, but I never got precise information what material would have constituted a TOS violation. Nor can I verify that my account hasn't have been compromised to make sure it was even my doing.

But due to them deciding something was off, anything I had online synced is now locked away. My data access request was denied referring to #GDPR 15(4), which *does not* make it clear why they wouldn't be able to give me the "good" portion of the data.

The data stored is of immense value, both sentimentally AND financially. It's not just my stuff that's in there, but photos, videos about many other people and events, data from my clients, my business documents, personal healthcare...

- backups of old hard drives - the sentimental value of having stuff from 15-20 years ago is immense and historically important.

Trust me, I have a huge barrier for mentioning anyone here, but it makes one desperate when you seem to be at odds with arbitrarily functioning company where it is fundamentally unclear what appeal and investigation options there are.

The worst thing is that it's not just my data or security People's networks could fail, causing them delays, data loss and financial losses. People lose their event memories. Some materials are crucial for HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF OTHERS.

I am sincerely worried about the mental health repercussions for this, for several people. These projects *CANNOT DISAPPEAR TO BIT VOID* without absolutely huge and irrepairable damage and losses.

And there are *so many* customer service and company protocol red flags:
1) I don't know precisely what I'm accused of, so I can't appeal.
2) Appeal process is unclear or nonexistent.
3) Communication takes a long time, threatening time-deletion.

4) @Dropbox promises my data's encrypted. ... so how the hell did you know before me something's up?
5) As far as I know my #GDPR, there should be nothing stopping recovering data partially (even if some material was deemed tos-breaking). CS is plain scary now.

6) 1st symptom was desktop app saying the account was downgraded/online sync disabled, and then it apparently started syncing data offline but refused later? (No storage media I had to could have taken in that terabyte of data.)

7) No information whatsoever on the possibility that it could have been an account compromise. I cannot verify connections and logins, because I can't login to the service...

... All in all there are SO MANY QUESTIONS unanswered, but I sadly know that some random customer service will not be able to process all of these in parallel and unbiased without it all making me sound bad and "worsening my case"

... I sincerely do not believe I can get benefit of doubt here either because of a flag of terms breaking. That makes one a "second-class citizen" and appeal process is vague and - based on what I've seen so far - untrustworthy.

Please signal boost. I hate finding out systemic problems personally like this, but these things need to get fixed regardless of my account status.

Nevertheless, this is full panic mode. I NEED HELP. Data recovery, legal, financial, anything.

I already feel so bad that my own health did not allow me to output this message a week earlier. Anxiety is through the roof, work ability degraded. Couldn't properly partake in @KelaFpa rehabilitation course last week due to intrusive thoughts.

So @DropboxSupport @DropboxSupport, I need corporate reponsibility now, because I don't want my own OR OTHERS' safety compromised like this. This is big enough things that I know many people would get suicidal about, their whole lives deleted.
