Among the 69 assistant referees, there will be three women who will be joining them.
2. Semi-automated offside technology
Players' movements are tracked by the technology using a sensor in the ball and a limb-tracking camera system.
The information is utilised to project 3D graphics onto stadium screens so that fans may better understand the referee's judgement.
3. Five Substitutions
Although the rule has been introduced in football since Covid-19 disrupted the world, it will be implemented in a World Cup for the very first time.
Teams will be permitted 5 changes each game, up from three during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
In the event that a game requires extra time, an additional substitute is permitted.
4. BONOCLE and FEELIX
Bonocle, the world's first Braille entertainment platform with all the necessary assistive technology for the visually impaired to access digital material, has been used in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar to make the event more accessible to fans.
The FIFA World Cup in Qatar will also feature Feelix Palm technology. This technology transmits braille-like messages to the visually impaired without limiting their ability to move around or hear through tactile palm communicators using electric impulses.
Apart from all the rules and new technology that are being implemented in Qatar 2022, its also the first time that a World Cup is taking place in the winter season.
Qatar is also the smallest nation to host this global event.
