And here we are trying very hard to reduce stigma and discrimination, and @KKMPutrajaya at the National World AIDS Day event invites AP Dato' Dr. Izhar Ariff bin Mohd Kashim to speak on the Role of Society in Combating HIV-AIDS. Ok Prof if you can’t be compassionate, at the very
least you can try and not be so bigoted and hurtful at a World AIDS Day event ! And as if that’s not enough, you are also spreading wrong information about how the disease can be transmitted. Honestly, JKNS and AIDS-STI Unit KKM you can do and be better than this.
On behalf of @yayasanaidsMY & @myAIDScouncil I apologize to everyone in the community for not vetting the speaker a lot more closely.
Honestly, I don’t understand why many so called Islamic leaders in 🇲🇾 whether in politics or academia or NGO, practise the language of hate and “othering”rather than treating everyone with compassion and dignity. Yours is not the Islam I know and practice. @IzharAriff
This was the doa read by my ID colleague Dr Sazali at the start of our #WorldAIDSDay event this morning. Beautiful & meaningful.

Today saw the launch of the 12 speciality curricula from the National Postgraduate Medical Curriculum project - which over the last 7 years > 360 colleagues from various public unis & KKM came together to work on. The project’s objective is to build on and strengthen the existing
training pathways - the University Clinical Masters program and the parallel pathway offered by KKM to ensure that all trainee doctors are trained to the highest standard thus guaranteeing patient safety & quality of care.
1. So why did it take so long? A. Ever tried to herd a bunch of busy clinicians & specialists across multiple Uni/KKM, across different specialties and bring them together to work on a big piece of work like this ?😌2. How does this curriculum project work?

Is this blanket national rule really justifiable based on the current epidemiology, where in some states there are < 5 new infections/day for the entire state. covid19.place
Millions of school children have missed out on schooling for almost an entire year. We must outweigh the risk and impact of this vs the infection risk. We must be use what we now know about COVID-19 to find ways to make them attend school safely.

Continual lockdowns are not the answer to bringing Covid under control | Coronavirus outbreak | The Guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Sage words from @Devi sridhar Prof of Global Health, Edinburgh Uni.
So, what are the strategies to deal with coronavirus before an effective vaccine arrives? The answer cannot just be locking down continually, given the large economic and social costs this involves.
3 key elements that are essential for bringing the virus under control. 1. a robust system for testing, trace and isolate, test results returned within 24 hours, > 80% of people’s contacts are reached and high adherence to 14 days’ isolation for those exposed to the virus.

Why are malls and universities closing down as soon as there is 1-2 reported COVID19 positive cases in their vicinity? Let’s stop the hysteria and get back to basics - Contact trace close contacts as defined by > 15 mins encounter < 1 M apart in a closed space.
Isn’t that why we painstakingly register wherever we go? And remember, masks do provide protection, that’s why you should wear them in crowded public places.
The risk of infection from a casual visit to a mall which is generally well ventilated is v small. Unless you have been in a restaurant, gym or nightclub or other crowded indoor settings. In which case you have registered kan, so contact tracing can be done.
