My comment to the @californiapuc today: “The ultimate test of the NEM3 proposal is whether or not it will continue to foster the rapid growth of rooftop solar in California. It fails that test miserably. Instead it will stop rooftop solar growth dead in its tracks. #savesolar
That’s no accident: the purpose of the NEM3 proposal is to shore up the monopoly power of the Investor Owned Utilities against encroachment by the citizens of California. To lock in dirty, expensive energy for their profit. #savesolar
You, the CPUC, along with your boss, Gavin Newsom, are directly implicated in this literal power grab.

By killing the growth of rooftop solar you will harm all Californians. You will harm us by gutting our ability to combat climate change. #savesolar
You will harm us by crippling our economic competitiveness, forcing both citizens and businesses to rely on dirty, expensive energy as other states and nations quickly adopt sources of clean, cheap energy. #savesolar
And you will harm us by undermining our resilience in the face of heat waves and wildfires.

Please ask your boss, Gavin Newsom – for we all know that, despite his protests, he is pulling your strings –
why he is willing to inflict so much harm on the citizens and the state he is supposed to serve and protect? Better yet, refuse to harm us and reject NEM3.” #savesolar

.@GavinNewsom we’re asking you to #SaveRooftopSolar . I’ve been personally affected by PG&E’s behavior and have a stake in the solar rooftop issue. Our home in Glen Ellen was burned down in the 2017 Tubbs fire – 1/
a PG&E-caused fire in the year that kicked off our new reality of utility-started megafires destroying parts of the state every year. We rebuilt and finally moved back home this past April. We had solar panels installed this summer, along with battery back-up. 2/
The principle reason for this is to do our part. We can’t in good conscience use fossil fuels as long as there is an alternative available to us. We have children. We want them to have a world to live in.
