I can not endorse Michael Butler for Chair. I chose to stay completely silent to “get through the election” but the toxicity, inaction, and ineptitude must be called out. I’m wrong in not doing it right away. In likelihood he will be re-elected but not without my dissenting voice
Demanding absolute loyalty and isn’t leadership.
Threatening to ruin other Democratic politicos when they don’t support you isn’t leadership.
Supporting and taking money from rapists is not leadership.
I’ve made some big mistakes in leadership. Serving silently as Vice Chair alongside Michael Butler has been the worst of them. I thought my lack of activity would be understood as a lack of endorsement but that was my second big mistake here. Serving still lended credibility.
I’m hearing rumors of my support of this admin because I served in it and I feel compelled to correct that inaccuracy.
While I am taking a necessary break from elected leadership roles…I’m not going anywhere. These next two years are as pivotal as any others and no matter who we elect as Chair this is YOUR Missouri Democratic Party.
The threats to ruin me dang somewhat true in that much information has been spread about me. I’m alive and involved.
The wins we have seen have come from the House Victory Committee in spite of what MDP has done.
We used to have coordinated campaigns run by MDP we used to get a SPIF grant from the DNC. Where have these gone in the last two years?
No reason other than the amount of sexual assault allegations that have gone without public or even committee discussion need be given for my refusal to participate. In fact my retreat is only not going public sooner. This all began weeks into this administration.
Even now, when it is appropriate to speak publicly because of the election timing I will be attacked for speaking. We are the party of transparency, of participation, of accountability. Don’t let fear keep you silent if you have “something to lose” now is the time to be bold.
The employee settlements in both offices he has controlled should be enough.
The State Party and the tax payers of St. Louis have paid these judgements because of his bad judgement.

Much of the legislation you are seeing in statehouses throughout the country comes from one place. No, not ALEC. Project Blitz, a christian nationalist bill mill. They’ve been orchestrating a take over of local government for a generation. And it has largely worked.🧵
Here is an explainer on their goals and in retrospect, some of their achievements. I’m going to take this opportunity to introduce you to @C_Stroop ,who is one of the leading minds and voices on christian nationalism. 2/x
Voter suppression is a key piece of their 50-state offensive but is concentrated in states with larger Black populations and specifically red states with Majority-Minority CD’s in an attempt to circumvent the Voting Rights Act of 1965. azcapitoltimes.com/news/2021/03/0… 3/x

The Missouri Democratic Party state committee meets Saturday and in our agendas we received a bylaws change. I’ve long been very open about my feelings about compulsory paid dues for state committee members. There shouldn’t be any, but the change being made here isn’t that one.
It’s prohibiting members from voting if they are not in good standing, but this year and previous years. Now I’m all about pulling your weight and being part of the team but the $500 for executive committee is and has always been out of reach for me and I know I’m not alone.
I am speaking now against this bylaws change and plan to speak against it again from the floor. I’m shocked this change is being proposed but further shocked it is being proposed in the middle of *all of this.* This signals that poor people are unwelcome in MDP leadership, wrong.

I'm one of the people who need the extended/enhanced UI benefits to support myself right now. The job I lost was a professional one that paid pretty well and had really good benefits. I'm 33 years old and childless and I'm behind on everything they won't come and get. 1/x
I've applied for job after job after job and have rarely even heard back with an auto-generated rejection. I cannot imagine the anguish of worrying about feeding children today. I have no idea what I'm going to do, but I can tell you I know I'm in better shape than many. 2/x
I've woken up every single day in a panic, so worried about how I will make it, BEFORE. I am not alone in having trouble finding suitable employment, TRUST me we want to earn a living again. Now we have <a month to try and figure out what we couldn't figure out in many. 3/x
