Hawks wasn’t sure at what point Dabi had stopped attacking him and began attacking Keigo but all he could was stand there and take it.
Because he made a promise not to attack Touya and Touya was all he knew.
He went silent though he knew Dabi
didn’t notice or care.
“Worthless,” Dabi screamed and Keigo tried not to flinch, “I dont know why you even bother to come here if you’re going to do absolutely nothing!” He yelled and maybe he had a bad day.
Rather, in the sea of bad days this one was worse.
“You make me sick!” Dabi yelled, “you’re a shit hero, an even worse villain is there anything you’re good at besides fucking everything up?” He was screaming and the past flashed behind Keigo’s eyes but he stood still, and let the tears burn his eyes.
“A piece of shit, that’s
what you are, just like your father, just like mine!”
That one stung, they all did but that was worse. Keigo swallowed the pain and caught his reflection in the bedroom mirror.
He wasn’t sure who get saw.
“Get the hell out of my home!” Touya yelled and so Keigo did.
He didn’t say anything or do anything except pick up his bag where he had set it down next to the door and then left.
It was raining and Keigo didn’t fly.
Couldn’t bring himself to taste that freedom, and at some points the tears from his eyes fell and hit his cheeks like the
rain coming from the sky.
It was cold, he’d forgotten his jacket in Touya’s room. He didn’t turn around to get it.
He wasn’t going to go back tonight.
~
His bed was cold but Keigo wrapped his wings around himself.
The window was open and the air was cold. He didn't close it.
The night have taken him to sleep but it was restless and fitful and he tossed the same as he turned and the dreams haunted him behind his eyes.
He'd gotten home late though he wasn't sure exactly how late it was- he didn't check the clock before falling into bed and willing himself into a dissatisfying sleep.
He wasn't sure how long he'd been asleep but at some point, a warm, shaking body pressed against his back.
Familiar arms wrapped around his bare back, clasping around the front.
He was crying, Keigo could feel it.
"I'm sorry," he cried, /whimpered/ against the cold skin of his back. The part in-between his wings, "I-I don't know wh-why," Touya sobbed.
His tears were wet and
Keigo turned, pulling Touya into his arms and chest.
"I know," he said, voice hoarse from when he, himself had cried but his eyes were dry now.
"No- no, Kei, I didn't mean-" cries ripped from him and his body shook. Keigo wrapped his arms around him tighter, trying to put the
pieces back together.
"I know honey," Keigo whispered, pressing his lips to the top of his head.
"No, no, no," Touya whimpered again, the tears on his face were hot against Keigo's chest.
"It's alright," Keigo said and it was true. It was alright because he knew what Dabi
said wasn't Touya.
/His/ Touya not Dabi, his father's creation.
"It's alright," Keigo soothed because he could. Because he was strong enough to handle it. He could handle the dark parts of Touya. "We can talk in the morning Tou," Keigo said and that name made Touya cry even
harder.
It was hard for him to believe that anyone could see past the anger and hate that was beaten into him.
"My love, it's alright," Keigo reassured him, running his hands through his hair and down his back. "I love you, it's fine, it's okay."
He could still feel
Touya shaking his head and so Keigo took his face in his hands and kissed his lips gently.
Taking away the pain of the flames burned along his skin.
"My love," Keigo said again, "I do not blame you, sleep, dear," he said, kissing his lips again.
Touya looked up at him with
wide glossy eyes filled with disbelief.
Keigo didn't expect him to understand how he felt, how he understood why Touya was the way he was. It would take time and he wasn't going anywhere.
"Please, sweetheart, you need to sleep," Keigo whispered and finally Touya nodded,
allowing himself to feel Keigo's unconditional love.
And he did, even though he felt he did not deserve such love.
He accepted it because there was no one better than Keigo, and he was terrified of driving him away.
So, if he was going to stay, Touya was going to let him.
"I love you," Touya said, his voice tearful and desperate and utterly sad. His eyes begged for another kiss and Keigo gave it to him, pressing their lips together, still holding his face.
"I love you," Keigo said and it was a promise as much as it was a declaration.
It was the basis of his unconditionality.
