Several power substations were damaged and taken offline by gunfire knocking out power to 40,000 residents in Moore County, NC. Gun stores were robbed. A drag show was cancelled. A local extremist implied that's why the power was cut.

A thread: 🧵

It has been confirmed by local law enforcement that at least two power substations were damaged by gunfire. A gate in front of one of the power substation was destroyed. Power outages began shortly after 7pm. Image
Explosions were heard throughout Carthage, NC around 9:42pm. At 10:30pm, law enforcement began swarming around gun stores and a local Walmart after reports of "looting." Unclear how many guns or gun stores were robbed.
Emily Rainey, a local extremist who allegedly participated in the January 6th insurrection posted this.

Emily Rainey then claimed law enforcement arrived at her home and questioned her. Likely for posting the prior posts stating to know why. Unclear if she has any actual knowledge or connection to the perpetrators.

Image
Extremists around the country began celebrating and endorsing the attack on power substations as it resulted in the cancellation of the drag event. Regardless of the motivations of the perpetrators, this is how it was being perceived by extremists. Image
In the days leading up to the event, organizers of the drag event received death threats but vowed to continue on regardless. Proud Boys and other extremist groups threatened to protest and disrupt the event. fayobserver.com/story/news/202… Image
It has not been confirmed by officials or law enforcement that the two were explicitly connected. However, the timing is likely not a coincidence. Additionally, gun stores being targeted shortly after the power went down indicates a high level of coordination.
Coordinated attacks on infrastructure and the robbery of gun stores is a pattern typical of highly coordinated militias. This is a terrifying escalation in the tactics of extremists if proven to be the case. The chaos from the power outage is a perfect cover for all of this.
Even if the primary goal was not the drag show, the high level of media attention and threats were certainly not unnoticed by the perpetrators. It would've been a perfect opportunity to draw away attention and serve as a distraction while also dirupting the events.
It remains to be seen what is confirmed over the coming days but I would not be surprised to see FBI involved. DHS has been warning for years about infrastructure attacks. It's an insurgency tactic that is likely to increase in usage by extremists.

Regardless of the motivations of the perpetrators, it is factually true that a drag show that was targeted by extremists with death threats in the days leading up to the event. The drag show was disrupted by power loss resulting from power substations being attacked with gunfire.

NEW: Searches of Libs of Tiktok's account do not return any tweets made after November 18th, the day before the Club Q shooting. This is verified on iOS, Android, and Desktop on multiple accounts. This isn't the case on any other account as far as I can verify. Image
For example, searches for the term drag only a tweet about the North Carolina drag show on November 18th. However, multiple recent tweets use the word "drag." This isn't just specific words either, it applies to all word searches for content after November 18th. ImageImage
This seems to apply to all of their content in searches including their name. For instance, searching "drag show" along with "Libs of Tiktok" returns several replies but not their most recent tweet using that term. Not the case with other similar accounts. ImageImage

These are the people who showed up outside of a drag show in Columbus, Ohio and caused it to be canceled. This is terrorism. Where is the DoJ? This is a clear violation of civil rights by neo-nazi orgs. Image
LGBTQ people need to start arming themselves if they aren't already. Club Q was just the beginning. We need to protect ourselves from these fascists. This time they didn't murder anyone, but that might not be the case next time.
The local community there relied on the police instead of community defense. The police bailed and left them by themselves defenseless. Don't trust cops. They aren't going to protect you. We protect us.

Texas man, Matthew Jordan Linder, was charged with threatening doctors who provide gender affirming care at Boston Children's. This is now the 3rd arrest connected to threats since Libs of Tiktok started targeting BCH in August.

Catherine Leavy of Massachusetts was arrested on September 15 for making bomb threats against BCH.

Joshua Kimble of Canada was arrested October 24 for making bomb threats against BCH.
This started in early August with Libs of Tiktok, Billboard Chris, and Christina Buttons pushing misinformation and incendiary rhetoric around gender affirming care at BCH.

Update on Twitter's content moderation around misgendering and slurs. I am still regularly getting accounts locked when they reply to my tweets and misgender me or call me a "groomer." However, it seems misgendering of others by large accounts is not enforced at all.
So the small low follower or new accounts that reply to my tweets or QRT to harass me regularly get locked. The problem is that larger accounts that instigate a lot of harassment through quote retweets or direct replies aren't getting found to be in violation.
This was often the case before Elon took over. It was clear there were different rules for large follower accounts unless the violation was more egregious. So small <100 follower accounts are getting locked but larger accounts with more reach are not.

Elon is panicking now that he said Apple was allegedly thinking of pulling Twitter from the app store. He's scared and backed into a corner. It's game over if the app stores pull Twitter. Yes, it'll still be accessible via browser but it would cripple Twitter.
Don't take Musk at his word that Apple is actually contemplating removing Twitter from the app store. It's to his advantage to frame the media narrative and put Apple on the defensive preemptively. He's already making this about "free speech."
Apple has its own free speech rights to determine what apps go on its app stores. There are valid criticisms of their policies but overall, companies do have the legal right to refuse to associate with apps or companies they believe are harmful.

Watch what they do, not what they say. Twitter was the most effective tool for organizing mass resistance to government authority. It's not an accident that Elon is destroying its usefulness 2 years after the US had the largest mass protests in history.

The spam campaign raises the question as to whether Musk is intentionally allowing spam to clog news coverage of the protests in China or else face repercussions for Tesla in the Chinese market. China has leverage. This is exactly what human rights experts were worried about.
China based Binance has a significant investment interest in Twitter and there is no clarity as to the level of access Binance has to the infrastructure and data of Twitter to optimize bots for all kinds of influence campaigns. There's no transparency.
