2/Consider that Putin believes that leadership in AI will determine “who rules the world” and that this is a significant part of the concept of #Noosphere, which is behind his policy agenda.
4/Consider that Musk sees technology like ChatGPT as a tool for “freeing” humanity; or, perhaps, he thinks a significant number of people are simply now superfluous and no longer serve any purpose. And that this will help humanity “evolve,” per his “longtermism.”
5/Consider that Barbara Marx Hubbard, mother of “conscious evolution” proposed eliminating (killing) the 25% of humanity that “could not evolve.” Consider stack-ranking at Twitter to eliminate “poor performers.”
6/It is unclear whether this presents a real national security risk; but it is arguable that Musk intends to present it as such a challenge, and that Putin is likely cheering it.
So it is appropriate to consider these developments within a framework of geopolitical intentions.
7/If Musk is intending this technology to (further) upend the existing world order (and perhaps it will, in some ways), those intentions should be taken at face value.
We should evaluate both what implications those intentions and alliances have, and appear to them to have.
8/Consider that Musk is intensely interested in ChatGPT’s performance and is also nursing a Trump-like grievance against the @nytimes for not gushing over it.

You know how Musk is asking employees to report “low performers” at Twitter so they can be removed?
That’s the model they’d like to use for society. You know, so humans can “evolve.” Remove the bottom 25% low performers. “Stack ranking,” they call it. Or, “conscious evolution.”
Here’s Barbara Marx Hubbard, mother of “conscious evolution,” talking about her very cool plan to eliminate the 25% of humanity that’s “incapable of evolving.” Musk is drawing from this same set of influences. Putin, too.
His erratic nature and bizarre worldview may have made him, like Musk, an attractive target for influence and radicalization. But please do not give this man a pass as if he has no agency. He does, and is choosing this path for geopolitical reasons maybe one day people will get.
1/Most of what Musk is doing is predicated on his paper wealth, and being the 'richest man in the world.' That wealth was largely manufactured through the meteoric rise of $TSLA stock and the rise in assets like Bitcoin, which are his two major holdings.
2/There was also a concerted effort to build a cult-like following around $TSLA and drive its stock price to P/E levels unheard of for any other auto-maker and even for tech companies. Toyota $TM trades at ~11 P/E, Apple $AAPL at ~24. $TSLA is at ~57; and it had been much higher.
3/Part of $TSLA's valuation story can be traced to Musk's obsession with short-sellers of the stock. There has been a lot of chatter about how the company fixated on short sellers, and the sort of proxy battles that ensued in trying to manage and/or retailiate against them.
1/You know Musk’s “poll” and “vox populi, vox dei” nonsense? This is an effort to challenge state power. See this video from 2008 to get a sense of where these ideas come from. “Gaia” is the fulfillment of the Noosphere concept (per Lovelock).
2/Putin’s policy agenda is rooted in a co-opting of the Noosphere concept. This is a piece of Russian propaganda that makes that clear. We are seeing a convergence of Musk’s actions and Putin’s policy agenda.
3/Couple this with Putin's stated desire to displace Western hegemony and form a BRICS bank to counter the "golden billion," and you have a pretty good idea what these folks are up to. washingtonpost.com/world/2022/07/…
1/A thing to be aware of: Cathie Wood (ARK) is a mentee of Art Laffer; Art Laffer has worked with Square (Jack Dorsey) on economics reports; Dorsey and Musk are collaborating on the Twitter takedown; Laffer developed the "Laffer Curve" (a key part of "Reaganomics") under Reagan.
2/This network is tightly-knit — and trying, under new names, to bring about Laffer's "trickle down economics" and free market fundamentalism. More on this soon, but watch this to get the vibe between Wood, Musk, Dorsey. July 21, 2021. thebword.org/c/track-2-Bitc…
3/These folks are peas in a pod, and we're seeing the fruit of their 2021 ideas now. 🤷
