This kind of identity politics in its crudest and most cynical form - first-ever this, first-ever that - it not trivial news. It's anti-news.
It's designed to get you to celebrate people and institutions you would otherwise abhor, to refrain from asking what they do and believe.
One of the most embarrassing aspects here is the Squad's role. Jeffries openly despises them. He created a PAC to defeat them. AOC once vowed to "take him down." He represents everything they claim to detest.
Yet none opposed him. They *cheered* him: using identity politics.
When something like the election of Jeffries happens, Dems and their media pat themselves on the back for their "diversity." But how much diversity of thought is there in the Dem Party?
One of the best warnings I heard on these dangers came from AOC's answer to me in 2018:
It's not just Democrats who do this, of course. Virtually every power center - from Goldman Sachs to CIA, FBI to Raytheon (winner of @HRC's Best Place for LGBTs to work!) - cynically puts new faces on the same rotted policies to get liberals to cheer them
Even as one who holds corporate media employees in the lowest esteem, it's amazing to watch them impose a framework where the world's most influential and privileged people - themselves, FBI operatives, the richest corporate execs - are off-limits from critique and reporting.
We're devoting the first part of our show tonight to how liberal corporate journalists have completely inverted core journalistic values:
They are their powerful friends are off-limits from critique. Only their enemies and ordinary citizens with the wrong views are fair game.
If you criticize or negatively report on liberal employees of media corporations. they'll unite to accuse you of inciting "harassment" and "online violence" against them -- even while they work for the world's most powerful media corporations, of the FBI!
The number of corporate media employees completely incapable of comprehending satire -- no matter how blatant you make it -- is unsurprising, but it should be alarming and scary.
Part of it is just intellectual incapacity, but the bigger part is utter lack of self-awareness:
There are so many insane, unhinged and deranged practices that are normalized within their cloistered, incestuous, and closed information system that they can't recognize the inanity that governs their world, so primitive insanity like this look normal and earnest to them.
They do a lot of "reporting" based on "data charts" at least as arbitrary and stupid as the one derived my online safety expert studies this morning. That's why madness like this seems normal to them. Why do they need this explained to them???
It's kind of stunning how explicit liberal-left journalists and other liberal activists are in their anger that a journalist would mention the name of and report on *the top lawyer at the FBI* and the richest and most senior executives at the world's most powerful corporations:
Just look at this thread from @whstancil, one of those guys who fancies himself a radical because he occasionally criticizes DNC strategy while loyally voting Dem. He's *enraged* Taibbi would report on the top FBI lawyer and most powerful corporate execs:
Every Real Journalist™ knows the one thing you never do -- it's not just morally wrong but *dangerous* -- is to mention the name of, let alone criticize, the former General Counsel of the FBI, now a top lawyer for one of the world's most powerful corporations. Dangerous!☠️
This is the problem with allowing people to do reporting who don't work for mega-corporations like NBC News.
@mtaibbi doesn't have a corporate boss to teach him that you only attack private citizens, not top FBI and corporate leaders. Ben learned this so he's a Real Reporter™.
I mean look at this fucking insane tweet Ben Collins applauded. It's saying Matt Taibbi is committing a journalistic sin by reporting on and speaking about the former top lawyer for the **FBI**, now for Twitter. Ben said Taibbi is "launching a mob" - lol.
It's a bit difficult to maintain the US Security State had no role in Twitter's censorship regime when *the General Counsel of the FBI* - centrally involved in Russiagate and all sorts of politicized abuses - ended up as Twitter's Deputy General Counsel, with paws in everything.
Barely a month ago, @lhfang and @kenklippenstein published a batch of previously secret documents proving how centrally involved DHS is in Big Tech's censorship schemes. @yoyoel admitted he met with them and FBI weekly. None of this it in doubt.
Whenever Congress seeks to limit Big Tech's monopoly and censorship powers, all the same US Security State goons who spread the "Russian disinformation" lie about the Biden docs vocally object, because online censorship is one of their key weapons:
One time, Tucker Carlson mentioned Taylor Lorenz by name -- while critiquing her article that appeared on the (front page of the NYT*, and they held a joint therapy session to warn of the dangers.
But they use their platforms to incite hatred every day.
These corporate media employees dox ordinary citizens for having the wrong political views. They use the huge corporate platforms of NBC and WPost to target whomever they dislike.
But if you turn around and criticize *them*, they instantly whine it's incitement and harassment.
