This is how a social credit score system begins 🧵

You start with a small group of people arbitrarily passing moral judgements on others

Those deemed unworthy or problematic are penalized: their voices silenced, their rights restricted

It starts small but grows and spreads

Soon this system is adopted by more and more digital platforms

They start sharing user data in an effort to combat “hate” and “misinformation”

Transparency? Zero

Soon the government wants in on the action because of “domestic terrorism” and “foreign political interference”

It’s all done in the name of the greater good and public safety

It’s not long before they ask “good” citizens to inform on the “bad” ones

As technology develops, it extends to more and more of our daily lives

It inches its way along the slippery slope of good intentions

This is exactly what communist authoritarians have always done

Given my background this was my first reaction below

This is what authoritarianism is

They want the control so that the world comports itself according to their ideological utopia

It’s all for the greater good

So they’ll build these systems thinking how much better society will be

But they’re just useful idiots because eventually some truly evil people get to take the reigns of power and the system is used to enslave everybody

This is why there needs to be zero tolerance for this
