Concerns Regarding the Church in 🇺🇸 (🧵 1 of 12):

I’m a Christian who loves America and our freedom. I believe critical social justice is a formidable dragon facing the church in our day. I stand opposed to it. However, we must avoid some mistakes as we defend the faith! [1]

Problem 1: The false idea that the church needs help from the worldly ideologies that are actually antithetical to the gospel. This position denies the sufficiency of Scripture and the transformative power of the gospel. [2]

Problem 2: The way defeat to the dragons of our culture is somehow outside of the church through political schemes / plans. This can distract a Christian from the local church & spark a desire to make disciples who oppose the dragons rather than disciples who follow Jesus. [3]

Problem #3: Remain silent about the dragons & pretend that we’re living in a time of unparalleled freedom. Pretend that the church is not under attack. Refuse to identify compromisers. This is a refusal to defend the faith and a demonstration of a woeful lack of discernment. [4]

Problem 4: Posture yourself or your organization as the solution and play the evangelical competition game w/ a desire to be in control. This often manifests itself by people or orgs claiming to be the expert(s) that everyone must follow. [5]

Wokeness is a terrible monster. However, it’s possible to accept the gospel of anti-wokeness and still go to hell. All truth originates with God, but not all truth saves. Anti-wokeness doesn’t go far enough. The world needs the gospel of Jesus. [6]

If you save America from wokeness (or any godless ideology / movement), but you deemphasize the gospel of Jesus, you’ve merely made people comfortable in their American dream for a short season before a long eternal hell. [7]

Dear Christian, Jesus has called you to go and labor to make disciples of Christ not disciples of anti-wokeness or any other anti-dragon movement. [8]

Stand courageously against the dragons and monsters of social justice that plague the church and attack the gospel, but not at the expense of silencing the gospel of King Jesus. Certainly not for self-promotion. [9]

If you conflate Christianity w/ anti-wokeness you create another religion among the plethora of false religions that damn men to eternal judgment. Critical social justice is a false religion, but the answer is not the creation of another false religion devoid of the gospel. [10]

If your voice is more passionate about anti-wokeness than it is about the gospel of Jesus, you become real good at diagnosing the problems while remaining silent about the real solution. [11]

Christians should never be shamed into political conformity or conditioned into silence on matters that threaten the church’s freedom. Christians should not be led to believe that our freedoms aren’t worth defending. [End] #WokeChurch #NotWoke #SocialJustice
