A few people have asked how I made it to $100/hr as a #bubble freelancer.
This is the strategy I used. 🔽
First: whether it is 80 or 120/hr does not matter much. It is more about getting big projects or a client who has many projects or referrals for you.
More hours >> bigger hourly.
So it is about getting clients to trust you.
People trust you when people believe you are the expert.
Hence sharing bubble content on twitter, youtube, the bubble forum or your own site is one way.
Another way is getting lots of great reviews or testimonials on freelancing marketplaces or linkedin or your own site.
Let’s say you have no content and no reviews. Why would someone trust you at the start?
Cos you help them with 1 small problem.
So help lots of people with small problems either for free or for small $. Your goal at the start is trust not $.
Another way to build trust is to work on your own project or help others for free for 1-2 weeks. Do share via build in public to showcases your abilities.
You can use the result on a portfolio site and insist on testimonials.
If you are not a designer, hire one to help you.
What you are going for:
Before your first call, people already think you are great.
Ideally the amount of updates you post, frames you as someone who will always get the job done, no matter the difficulty of the task.
Then the first call. Sound confident, practice beforehand if you need. Let the client do most of the talking. Come prepared with a plan & questions. Frame yourself as the price. Mention if you have done similar things. Talk about limitations of Bubble.
Always think: "What would someone with many potential clients do in this case?"
Be willing to walk away if you are not happy with the terms offered.
Also think: "What is no one doing at the moment to find customers?" Do the dirty work.
Especially if you're not used to sales.
Note that this is a process. Its not easy and you will not manage in just 6 months.
You are hired and rehired cos you are known to work the hardest to help the client achieve their goals!
You get $100 only if they know you always succeed.
