I did a thing. I agreed to go visit a freedom convoy group having a bbq. I went with as open a heart as I could. My friend said "come see, we are nice people". Well curiosity killed the cat and I will never go back. It started ok.

Grabbed a drink, and listened. Within 5 minutes, they had insulted the disabled, called for vaccinated to, hurry up and die, so they can be right. I said something. "The divide is on yourside, why should I try when I already feel spit on." 2

I was told it's my fault they were persecuted. "How is it my fault?" Yelly, yelly, something something. Thanked them for the drink, told them good luck and walked to the bar down the road. They are hateful and do not listen. I lasted 23mins. #FreedomConvoy

I paraphrased, the swears are left out and I decided not to repeat the actual cruelty I heard. Again I ask, why would I ever want to listen again, why would I want to let you in my world with all that hate? I do wish you well and good luck, but no thanks.

Thanks for all the feedback and support. My friend(he), I believe truly thought they were kind. They probably are to him, he agrees with them. He did try to help the situation. I don't want to give up on my friend.

Wow, you are have a great thread going here with me! Im sorry that funtime wasn't, it was sad that it was so upsetting and I feel quite confused by the anger. Have absolutely no idea what can be done?

Surprisingly this thread isn't overrun with hate this morning. More?s, I don't see my friend giving up his new found group, it's done. I only went because was an outdoor party tent(less risk?). I didn't realize it was all convoy peeps til there. 1

Why I went- I love my friend. I'm so tried of hate and anger. I foolishly thought it could be a start to ending it. Curiosity. 2

I'm so sorry so many of you are experiencing similar moments. I hope that this will too come to an end for everyone. The cruelty must stop, it's bloody insane. I must get some work done see you all after. Here's a pic of where I live to keep you company.
