In Oymyakon, this is the first -60°C recorded in December since 2008 (-60.0°C on the 20th & -60.1°C on the 22nd) and the coldest temperature in December since 1993 (-60.9°C on the 12th).
The monthly record (since 1943) is -62.8°C (1984) but -64.4°C was recorded in the 1930's.
The Tmin in Oymyakon was -61.0°C as of 0:00 UTC. 🥶
