This is a brilliant exchange by @NancyMace yesterday in Congress. There is a tiny group of hateful left-liberal fanatics whom have been arbitrarily dubbed "Online Safety Experts" and constantly warn hateful rhetoric incites violence. Yet they're the most hateful people around.
Somehow, one of the most relentlessly hateful and dishonest people on this site -- @Esqueer_ -- has become a cited expert because she became Twitter friends with @oneunderscore__ & @TaylorLorenz. She and Lorenz lie about her credentials (calling her a "Harvard Law Professor: 🤣).
All freedoms have costs. Barring the police from searching homes without warrants makes it harder to catch violent criminals, etc.

Yes, free speech can radicalize and incite hatred. But as @RepNancyMace shows, it's so often the left-liberal censors who most use hateful rhetoric.
We'll have @RepNancyMace on our @SystemUpdate_ program tomorrow night to discuss this and issues related to Big Tech and censorship.

But note: The Supreme Ct has long warned how dangerous it is to try to ban speech on the ground that it *can* incite violence. All speech can:
Seems weird to hold yourself out as some sort of expert on political discourse online, then not only block anyone who utters a peep of criticism, but also block a member of Congress who is unfailingly civil and substantive because she criticized you.

But this is the problem. These coddle left-liberal journalists never face any persecution. Why would they? They're harmless servants to power. Their schools protected them their whole lives from hearing criticisms. So now they interpret adult critiques as violence and truama.
But honestly, what I don't understand is the utter lack of self-awareness of these people.

Journalists are expected to go to war zones, risk prison from governments, be targeted by corporate power.

These people can't handle mean tweets and want the world changed to stop it.
But if you're going to insist hateful rhetoric and unified online attacks endangers people - and it's thus immoral even when done to powerful political and corporate actors - how can they watch themselves spew hatred at their enemies every day and not realize they do this most???

Watching the same liberal corporate journalists who explicitly agitated for a regime of social media censorship suddenly and righteously wrap themselves in the flag of free speech is simultaneously nauseating and hilarious - but also encouraging and inspiring. Welcome, indeed!🙏
Every *genuine* free speech advocate I've ever known has tried to convince people to object to censorship *on principle*. But knowing many are bereft of principles - eg liberal journalists - we try the tactical approach: this regime is bad because it will be used against you.
I'd be genuinely happy if this were a transformative moment: where liberals who've spent years demanding online censorship now see its evils since it's directed at them and their friends. But of course it's not that: they're complaining because they think *they* should be exempt.

Media and political activists instantly blamed their political enemies for the Colorado Springs massacre, even when they knew nothing about the killer let alone their motives.

Every ideology has "inspired" violent acts, but this tactic is even worse when untethered to facts.
We devoted the first part of our @SystemUpdate_ program last night to exploring all the ways this tactic -- exploiting murders and corpses to claim that one's political opponents have "blood on their hands" -- is so intellectually and morally bankrupt:

When journalists and activists *assume* the political motives of a killer with no evidence, they not only unjustly accuse others of inspiring murders, but radically mislead the public. This is why millions believe an absolute lie about the PULSE massacre:

We're thrilled with the success of last night's debut of our new live nightly prime-time program, @SystemUpdate_ , on Rumble.

Despite little advertising - we decided to start that only in early January - we had 30,000 people watching live, a total of 160k in the first 12 hours. Image
We began the show with an examination of how quickly free speech has been degraded from what it long had been - a universally shared value among Americans - into what it is now: rejected as a policy and a value by Democrats. One of my first-ever articles, in 2006, was about this:
There is no now question the Democratic Party no longer believes in free speech either as a societal value or constitutional doctrine. They are increasingly explicit -- from @SenMarkey to @RepAdamSchiff -- about their belief in uniting state and corporate power to censor:

The editorial policy of The Washington Post and many Brooklyn-based liberal digital sites is to falsely label people as "right-wing" as some weird punishment for deviating from liberal orthodoxy. All this term really means is: "one who sometimes rejects Dem Party orthodoxy."
There's not a single significant view Taibbi has changed since he was universally described as "left-wing" (same with @rustyrockets).

As for Bari Weiss: she is a fanatical supporter of US aid to Israel and the Israeli Govt generally, but so is almost all of the Dem Party.
These labels are now bereft of meaning. They're just in-group signifiers. It's sometimes necessary journalistically to refer to various political factions by the words most often used for them, but liberal journalists now weaponize these labels as vapid enforcement tools.

The US and UK have been the key allies helping the Saudis bomb and destroy Yemen for 8 years. Starting with Obama, it has created the world's worst humanitarian crisis: for what? The Senate will vote to strip the Biden Admin of its war powers to continue:

jacobin.com/2022/12/yemen-…
Note the coalition that has emerged in support of ending US support for this Saudi war. The key sponsor is @BernieSanders. It's supported by @RandPaul, possibly @SenMikeLee. And 2 key conservative groups - Americans for Prosperity and Freedom Works - are urging its passage.👇
How many wars is the US supposed to fight at once? How many foreign countries is the US supposed to arm, fund, give surveillance and targeting for their wars, none of which benefits US citizens? Doesn't "America First" foreign policy require this stop?

GUARDIAN: The Biden Admin is being increasingly pressured to drop the persecution of Julian Assange -- by Australia's PM, by Brazil's new President-Elect, by the 5 major news outlets that partnered with Assange, by *every* press freedom group in the West:

theguardian.com/media/2022/dec…
I doubt the Biden DOJ wants to bring Assange onto US soil to stand trial. It will foster major protests, be a huge distraction, and risk disclosure of sensitive secrets CIA wants to stay hidden.

The goal was to keep him imprisoned as long as possible to break him in all ways.
Beyond that, right now the only people who take press freedom lectures from the US & UK seriously are their subservient press corps.

All over the world, even despotic leaders laugh in the face of Western journalists who get sanctimonious about it:
