Let me introduce to you this new born child of the Nigerian Power System; the brain child of His Excellency, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, who gave us this great legacy of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI). /1 @toluogunlesitwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Behind me is the first of it's kind Mobile Substation in Nigeria. This 63MVA, 132/33kV Mobile Substation is the first of ten to be delivered under the Presidential Power Initiative. /2 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Recall that in March of this year, His Excellency, @HMPowerNG, Engineer Abubakar Aliyu, FNSE, charged the leadership of Siemens to fast track the delivery of 10 Power Transformers and 10 Mobile Substations to be deployed in all parts of Nigeria between now and May 2023. /3 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
This edifice here is a blessing to Nigeria. It is a complete electricity substation that can be moved from one place to another whenever there is failure of power supply. /4 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
This mobile substation is on three different trailers - d dead tank trailer, d transformer trailer, & d MV/LV trailer. Engr. Dahiru of TCN & I are here in Valence, France, for the Factory Acceptance Test with experts from Siemens who have designed, manufactured & assembled this.
@channelstv Re:Sunrise Daily Interview with Mr. Gur Mohammed, former MD, TCN.
The guest himself mentioned the scope of the PPI but could not add the numbers or does not know how power vectors add up to MW. /1
@channelstv 10 power transformers plus 10 mobile substations = 1320MVA
7 upgrade substations = 1,130MVA
8 New substations = 1,860MVA
5 new lines of over 200km
Upgrade of Zaria- Kwanar Dangora- Kumbotso line
Total transmission capacity to be added in phase 1 of the PPI = 4,310MVA. /2
@channelstv This will exceed the 2000MW being looked for.
Also, we are not jettisoning the Transmission Rehabilitation Expansion Programme (TREP). We are working together with stakeholders to complete the programme and the implementation is underway. /3
But we are delivering more than mobile substations in phase 1 of the PPI
As part of the transmission workstream under the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) in Phase 1, we are not just installing 10 power transformers and 10 mobile substations (1,320MVA).
Let me tell you a bit about the great work being achieved under the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) with @Siemens, @Siemens_Energy in a well coordinated legacy by @MBuhari, & @NGRPresident
The Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) is in three phases. Phase 1 aims to unlock 2000MW of stranded capacity by removing constraints in the transmission and distribution networks.
The 1320MVA of transformation capacity to be realized from the deployment of 10 power transformers and 10 mobile substations within the next 6 months will improve the quality of power supply to Nigerians.
If you lose a large power transformer supplying a large part of your state, rather than have prolonged power outages that can last many months, we simply drive down a mobile transformer to your state within few hours, hook up to d power lines around, & restore power supply.
When your DisCo or TCN wishes to carry out routine maintenance, and they need to do so, instead of plunging you and several communities into prolonged darkness, we will simply arrange to have mobile substations supplying you during the period.
