1/ On the 13th of December, Kurultai of crimean-tatar people declared the creation of a Crimean Democratic Republic. It was a left-democratic muslim republic, and a first muslim state to give voting rights to women and declare equality between nations, languages and cultures.
2/ Republic’s leading party was «Milliy Fırqa» — „a people’s party”. In its program party agitated for socialization of industry and land, on the principle „one owns as much land as can work by himself without employers”
3/ "All the land belongs to the communities" (jamaats). Each person was guaranteed as much land as he or she could cultivate. Treasury, private, office, and landlord lands were subject to alienation without compensation.
4/ The party advocated a democratic parliamentary republic, with freedom of assembly, trade unions, party activities, individual freedom and inviolability, liquidation of estates. Party also held high the value of national freedom, equality of languages, cultures and peoples.
5/ It was a muslim party, so their rule was based on modern interpretation of Sharia law, but at the same time, it was a multicultural republic with national-personal autonomy and wide array of rights for non-muslim population.
6/ In the economic block of the program, the socialization of factories and enterprises was declared as a goal, "...In the labor question, Milliy Firqa completely in solidarity with the demands of the Social Democrats."
7/ unfortunately, a few days after declaration of Republic, Bolsheviks dispersed soviets in Sevastopol and established military-revolutionary commitee, practically starting a war with CDR. In a montg, Crimea was occupied by better equiped and numerous Russian-bolshevik forces
8/ in January 1918 they fully occupied the Crimea and shot the most prominent representatives of the Crimean authorities, including the head of the government, poet and well-known socialist Noman Chelebidzhikhan. Red terror in Crimea was one of the cruelest.
9/ Not only Red, but White, French and German forces occupied Crimea, all equally hostile to Crimean self-determination. Left-wing of the Milliy Firqa, which decided to support bolsheviks were outlawed the last — in 1920. And court processes against them started in 1927-1928
10/ Ukrainian socialists remember and are inspired by the revolutionary experience of Crimean people at that time and consider it necessary to remember episodes of heroic struggle for social and national liberation.
Edit: on december of 1917

As promised, posts about history of Ukrainian left-wing, a thread.
And starting from person, who usually is called "the first Ukrainian socialist", Drahomanov 1\18
2\18 Drahomanov (1841-1895) — was the most influential thinker in Ukrainian political circles, person actively participating in international socialist discussions, influencer on works of Max Webber, Marx, Engels and others.
3\18 Drahomanov theoritized a national autonomy for Ukraine and argued with that of Ukrainian nationalists, who wanted to create an Ukrainian elite or Ukrainian aristocracy, as with most other "historical" nations — He argued instead about the need to speak to the peasants.
1/ Ideological fundamentalism on the level of early CPSU, with competence on the similar level, with the same methodical books, rulling officials from Zelensky party building «developed neoliberalism» the same way that Brezhnev and Sherbytskyi were building «developed socialism»
2/ Destruction of worker’s rights and security with 1) deregulation of social funds and workplace safety 2) withdraw from tripartisme principle and abandoning of state regulation of labour relations 3) cut to security of mobilized people 4) new precarious working conditions
3/ «Tax haven in times of war» with war-time tax cuts for the biggest capital and all together new tax reform proposal of 10-10-10 (AVT, income, corporate) to destroy budget even more. No war economy measures at all, overreliance on the West support. Use AVT as the «main tax»
1/ The peak of incompetence of the government in social sphere
"The position of the head of the soc. com. of the Rada, G. Tretyakova is that the sanatorium-resort industry is not needed, because she herself has never taken sick leave or been treated in sanatoriums in her life."
2/ And in general, "sanatoriums are Soviet debauchery ", said Tretyakova"
Social commitee of the Rada, headed by G. Tretyakova is famous by the attacks on democracy and organizing rights of Trade-unions, deregulations to workplace security and social funds, planned destruction of social sphere.
"almost all economists in the world say that Ukraine needs a progressive taxation. it’s good that we express our sovereignity and do not succumb to these Western provocations:)"
A 🧵 about Ukraine’s economic policy in war 1/8
2/8 A flat income tax of 18% and the same 18% corporate tax now forced to finance all of expenditures: on army, social
security, housing, wages etc.
Limiting taxation, not highering was the concensus of UA politicians as reaction.
3/8 It resulted business, especially big one, not fair engaging in financing of defence of the country, with all of expenditures going on the shoulders of vulnerable economic categories. Decision not to higher taxes forced to find new ways of keeping the budget
When media says «Ukraine inhereted X from Soviet Union» speaking of industry, it assumes that not only Ukraine wasnt exploited, but also built and subsidized by the hands of Russians, not Ukrainians. Soviet colonialism ignored
A 🧵 of Soviet economic colonialism in Ukraine 1/
2/10 Before 1917, as Holybnychiy argues, Ukraine wasnt an economic colony of Russia in a strict marxist sense. It was wealthier than Russian, exploited more by Belgian and French capital, than Russian, with most exploitation done in fiscal sense — by taxing UA
3/10 After Bolsheviks came to power, fiscal exploitation stayed the same. Moscow collected taxes from Ukraine then invests in the development of the RSFSR, Kazakhstan, etc. Russia is getting richer, and Ukraine is getting poorer because of this transfer of funds.
1\ Very important and in some view historical interview with the co-chair of SPD. Full of self-criticism. "We failed on Russia". "SPD misjudged Russia’s intentions and ignored warnings from Eastern partners"
2\ "Germany’s ruling Social Democratic Party (SPD) “failed” to see Russia’s aggressive intentions, bargained away trust by ignoring warnings from Eastern Europe and maneuvered Germany into dangerous energy dependency, the party’s co-chief acknowledged" politico.eu/article/we-fai…
3\ In a striking mea culpa speech in Berlin, Lars Klingbeil, one of the two leaders of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s SPD, said theme that security and stability in Europe could be achieved “only with Russia” had been wrong. “Today, it is a matter of organizing security from Russia"
