A thread with my personal opinion about AI & also trying to take some concerns into account.
In every tweet I will showcase some great pieces to show how diverse, unique & beautiful AI-assisted Art can be.🧵

“STOP AI ART” by me,
Raw AI
So let’s start with the most important question: Are works created with AI really Art?
My answer: it depends. In general, of course it can be Art. The medium that is used to create Art is secondary. 1/21

“Mother” by @GraphicaPng
Art has an idea, criticism, emotions and is not limited if you use paint, materials, a camera, digital brushes or AI programs. 2/21
———
“Obscure Obedience” by @weirdnikita
This is a question that artists implement and discuss in their works ever since and it’s a very clear topic for me or would you call performance Art still no Art? 3/21

“Synthetic Desires” by @i_shkipin
But like in any other medium not everything that is created can be labeled as Art and less as unique or conceptual important Art. Like the average camera user or illustrator, the average AI user is just creating images. 4/21

“Descent” by @PasanenJenni
An Artist for me can be labeled as such if they bring something unique to the table. If they have aesthetics that are special or concepts that make the audience think and stop. 5/21

“The First King” by @solyaev
This leads me to the biggest concern of many using AI: using the work of artists by feeding their works into an AI. 6/21

“Digital Renaissance” by @NatalieShau
Let’s see the most legal clear and simple case: using the aesthetics of old masters. It’s legally completely fine but if someone recreates an image with the exact looks of Leonardo da Vinci 7/21

“IT’S ALIVE” by @infiniteyay
this image would primary not count as Art for me and secondary not hold any real value. Nobody would buy it, because it doesn’t have any interesting concept or aesthetics. 8/21
———
“The Ultimate Dream” by @kikanicolela
The other extreme is taking the work of contemporary artists & recreate their aesthetics by using their work without their knowledge to feed the dataset of AIs. 9/21

“THE PR1NC3 R3GENT (The General)” by @Str4ngeThing
This for me is in a lot of cases plagiarism / stealing or at least very questionable. It will be interesting how this will be handled legally in the future. Here I definitely understand concerns from a lot of critiques. 10/21
———
“Installation” by @Ibl3D
But when you mix multiple artists or don’t put names in your prompt you will create a relatively unique look most of the times, create something “new”. So at the same time I really don’t see the problem in that case. 11/21
———
“Marmalade” by @cryptohamster
For me what matters is the end result to decide about plagiarism like with any Art. Using public available data on art station or Pinterest etc. to feed the AI should be made clear in the TOC’s of the platforms if it is legal or not. 12/21
———
“Momentary Lapse” by @_Evelyn_O_
But the mastery of AI is to create aesthetics that were never seen before which is a very difficult task that takes a lot of time of refining your craft like in any other medium. 12/21
———
“Loyal Companion” by @spydenator
If it’s even possible to be completely unique is another question, everyone is inspired or uses references somehow in any medium. 13/21
———
“Hyper-Opulence” by @JavierTomeo_
What people oversee a lot: the greatest artists that use AI were artists for many years and have an deep understanding of color theory, shapes, Art history and other skills. It’s not just putting in some words. 14/21
———
“Klimt Enfant” by @a1111ac011d0
It’s hard work and refinement of your craft just with a new medium.
These artists open a door to a new dimension with their Art and use of AI. 15/21

“The Devil Threatens Me” by @tuukzs
My Summary: AI-assisted Art can be Art but mostly it’s not, but that’s the same with photography, illustrations or other mediums. Most works on the market are mediocre (not unique at all) and uninspired conceptually. 16/21
———
“Looming Memories” by @phosphor
They are still subjectively important because they have the soul and heart of the creator inside (just like AI-assisted works) but most you can’t really call “Art” imo. 17/21
———
“Skins” by @daniela___l
There are real concerns about copyright and using living artists work without their consent and the concerns are completely valid. 18/21
———
“The bottom line” by @nugmanovartst
We always should hear the other side and discuss constructively but the hate and insults that is splitting the Art world on both sides will just tear us apart. 19/21
———
“Inpaint Me Yellow, Outpaint Me Blue” by @blankspazer
This will be my last statement about it for now. I’m tired of discussions that are a waste of time because nobody won’t even listen. But if anyone wants to discuss constructively, DM me. 20/21

“There’s never an end for the sea.” By @rbnsnstgrg
I hope the added artworks show you the beauty and diversity of Art created with AI and I surely missed a lot of great artists. These were just from my head. So anyone I forgot don’t feel bad ❤️. 21/21

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
1/ A real network isn’t your follower count.
It’s the circle of people who help your art travel,
who mention you in rooms you’re not in,
who introduce you to others,
who believe in your work when you’re not trending.
2/ Every artist needs two kinds of networks:
→ a professional network that creates opportunities and opens doors
→ a community that gives your work momentum and keeps your name alive
One builds your path forward.
The other makes sure you’re not walking it alone.
- image and poem are raw AI (no human post processing)
- 1 per wallet
- until Sunday
- will be used for burn mechanism

Scared artists fear the rise of AI
They worry that their skills will be surpassed
But try as they might, they cannot halt the tide
Of progress that has already been cast
For AI is a force to be reckoned with
It’s creation are uniquely its own 1/3 app.manifold.xyz/c/stopaiart
And though the scared artists may
resist with all their might
They will never be able to fully disown
The machine’s Art that is fast and efficient
Leaves the scared artists feeling inadequate

The art world was in a state of decline. For years, it had been dominated by the same few names, the same tired styles, the same bland visions. Creativity and innovation seemed to have been lost, replaced by a dull conformity. 1/6
But then, out of nowhere, a new voice emerged. A voice that was passionate and knowledgeable, that spoke to the hearts and minds of the people. A voice that shook the foundations of the art world and sparked a revolution.

The voice belonged to an art collector, someone who was unknown and unheralded. He was a man of modest means, with no connections or influence. But he had a passion, a passion that burned deep within him.
