absolutely mad that Mbappé has scored more goals than anyone in World Cup final history at the age of 23 and that, despite the loss last night, is already a World Cup winner. what a player.
I don’t even think Mbappé was the best #FRA player last night (big ups Kolo Muani) but his ability to be decisive even when not playing well is terrifying and recalls peak Cristiano. except he’s been at this level since he was 17. 😭
look, Mbappé is 23. it’s impossible to know where he’ll fall when it’s all said and done. but he’s started at a ridiculous pace and while he’ll never be as complete as Messi, he could forge his own path into the pantheon all the same.
like, in terms of skill Mbappé looks to be becoming something close to what Ronaldo could have been were it not for the injuries. he’s not quite as dynamic and fluid on the ball, but he’s more prolific and looking to be more consistent too?
but Mbappé needs to have an epic club career to reach the pantheon. and nothing he could do at PSG would come close to Messi-Barça, Diego-Napoli, Di Stefano-Madrid or Pele-Santos. he’ll probably surpass the aforementioned on the international stage, but club matters too! #FRA

it’s kind of wild that even with Barça in the state they are, the literal second-best striker in the world has forced a move there.
Barça (and Madrid) are just on a different level to the rest.
this is a great signing for Barça. they needed goals and managed to get the most prolific goalscorer around.
I doubt they get more than two years of world-class football out of Lewandowski, but that’s enough time for Ansu Fati to fully recover and hit his peak.
