In Kyiv it’s completely different from when the war began. Food delivery, supermarkets, hotels etc are all fully open. Curfew is later from 11pm to 5am. People are chilling with minimal soldiers
Here are the Christmas decorations in Kyiv train station. Trains now cost money, before they were free
This is town, biggest problem is traffic. People drinking coffee and going clothes shopping.
Basically most restaurants are open and doing delivery on Christmas Eve day

Also guys I’m going to the frontlines again, I’m just not illustrating where
Remember as well, this isn’t a full blown trip but just a Christmas thing because the next big one occurs after New Years

⚠️I BEAT THE EU! I am banned from Schengen for 3 years but got a new passport with different details, bypassing the ban. I GOT INTO SPAIN! The EU does NOT have good immigration control! 🇬🇧🎉 ImageImage
I have filled up my bag with over 20kg (44lbs) worth of free airport lounge drinks and food, worth more than the return flight. Therefore, I have profited. It’s not about the money however, it’s about sending a message
May I clarify: if you get a new passport and change any detail, you WILL be able to re-enter even after an official ban. Our continents security sucks.

Turns out if you are banned (I am) from Schengen (most EU nations), you can just get a new passport and the ban is literally worked around if you travel through a land border that doesn’t use facial recognition. Flawless system!
Also the document that talks about all border security within the EU Is very dystopian. Something like this every page
And to be honest, if you travel over any terrain that is a large hill / small mountain that cannot be patrolled, there is no border fence or guards. I only say this to point out how bad border security is

People were asking for my 3 layer brownie recipe, here it is! Check the comments
first, 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1.5 cups of dark brown sugar into a mixing bowl, 2.8 sticks of melted butter, 4 eggs and mix. add a spoon of vanilla extract. melt 8oz of 70% dark chocolate and pour in, mix til glossy.
add 1.5 cups of normal flour and 0.75 cups of dutch coca powder, the richer the powder the better, mix til thick. add fudge chunks and chopped up normal chocolate for chunks in the middle.

After afghanistan next month, where would you like to see me go? I would go Antarctica or north sentinel island but some trips are too expensive. Throw me some ideas! Thanks
The one place i refuse to go is Birmingham, the job center or the shower
I was thinking about jumping the US Mexican border, northern Iraq, Yemen or erictrea

(1) This is an average store on the side of an afghanistan highway. There is 1 every mile, stupidly common. They mainly sell energy drinks imported from South Korea with the carrot being most popular (more in replies)
Many young afghans don't know energy drinks are bad for you, seeing them as healthy energy with 3 or 4 being consumed by some young middle class men daily at 40¢ a can. You are given a piece of tissue to clean the can beforehand as they can get covered in dust
the US of course no longer supports the country so the import from south korea stopped due to sanctions. eventually pakistan exported the brand but there was a transition period of short supply, creating civil unrest
