The cost of living crisis is leaving asylum seekers destitute and unable to afford basic essentials as prices rise.

"The Welsh Refugee Council (WRC) has called for asylum seekers to be allowed to work in order to increase their income".

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH), appointed an interim chief executive, Ms Arrowsmith this month.
Her appointment comes after Chief Exec Gareth Swarbrick was sacked, following the inquest into the death of toddler Awaab Ishaq who died two years ago.

Ms Arrowsmith, a former nurse, has worked in social housing for 30 years & has said, “she expects to be in post at RBH for 'as long as it takes'. ‘I'm not a caretaker’.”

She has proposed two main priorities to deal with the enormity of the issues facing RBH & its tenants.

Priority 1: 80% of RBH properties (628) were affected by damp and mould as at December 20. Her top priority is making sure all RBH's homes are 'safe and secure', with damp and mould repairs a major part of that.
