1/ How impactful are KO/TKO losses in the @ufc?

Here I show some quick analysis regarding the frequency of KO/TKO losses.

Initial results have some potentially concerning implications for fighter safety.

More analysis is needed, but this may be of interest to the @UFCPI.

🧵
2/ This figure shows the frequency of each fight outcome following a KO/TKO loss.

We see that the most likely fight outcome following a KO/TKO loss is another KO/TKO loss.

This is concerning - more on that later. Image
3/ This figure shows the frequency of a KO/TKO loss following each type of loss

Following a SUB loss, 15.4% of fighters lose via KO/TKO in their next bout

Following a KO/TKO loss, it's 23.2%

Fighters lose via KO/TKO 50% more often after a KO/TKO loss than after any other loss Image
