1. Earlier in the day, news broke out that Holy10 had "apologized" for the 'politicization' of his trending song with Winky D

My response to it, was a quotation from Chinua Achebe:

"Whenever you see a toad jumping in broad daylight, then know that something is after its life"
2. Since the release of the song, much of the anger was coming from the usual vakarashi social media cluster of the ZanuPF party.

Later in the day, a well known ZanuPF pressure group, #EEG, held a whole press conference castigating Winky D, & calling for the banning of his music
3. Sadly, it's coming to light, that indeed, "...something is after the frog's life", as Chinua warned.

It can't be a conspiracy, that the young man was possibly threatened, & accused of picking a side.

Put differently, "they" are accusing him of pushing a pro-opposition agenda
4. Embarrassingly, someone who is yet to listen to the song, will, judging from the ZanuPF anger, assume that Winky D actually sang a song praising Chamisa & America, also calling for an uprising to overthrow the Harare regime.

Unsurprisingly, none of that actually happened.
5. What Winky D has consistently spoken out against the many challenges citizens face, especially young people in the "ghetto".

Such is the role of art in any society.

It only becomes "political" when that society is presided over, by people who are threatened by the truth.
6. Students of history would know that the situation Holy10 (and Winky D) tragically finds himself (themselves) in, isn't unique at all.

Many other artists fell victim to this paranoia, & they include the likes of Mapfumo, Tongai Moyo, Mtukudzi, Zhakata, & the list is endless.
7. If anything is to be read from this tragic episode, it is that we are presided over by extremely paranoid women & men.

They fully recognize how much their maladministration has plunged the nation into a volcanic state.

Anything that seems like a catalyst, freaks them out.
8. But most importantly, over the last few years, it has become apparent, how much "zimdancehall", is key to the attainment of the "youths vote", by ZanuPF.

They deliberately throng album launches, shows with international artists, with scarfs, as part of some pacifying capture.
9. ZanuPF is desperately guarding against the use of local genres in conscientizing youths, & potentially exposing the source & root cause of our unending challenges.

Like an opium, ZanuPF prefers that local genres keep youths pacified & disinterested in politics & activism.
10. At their presser, the #EEG ZanuPF pressure group demanded that Winky D, & other artists, sing praises to Mr Mnangagwa for his "development work".

The logic to the madness is thus exposed.

Under ZanuPF, the role of "art" should be solely praising gov & the status qou.
11. In its desperation for validation, the Harare regime has been creating these funny structures, to claim a wholesome endorsement of Mr Mnangagwa 2023 re-election agenda.

They wish to scarf-matize everyone.

They'll attack & deligitimize anything threatening this agenda.
12. I however commiserate with the Holy10.

With the devious nature of ZanuPF, noone knows the threats he's faced with.

Sadly, he committed no crime.
He only co-produced a beautiful work or art, which his audience is free to interpret however they wish.

That's their headache.
13. Music, like any art, should be a calling of sorts

Winky D has survived threats; violence at his shows, because he chose to speak about the plight & at times joy of the same people who give him relevance by supporting his art

That's where his loyalty lies.
Not party politics
14. Sadly, we live in a country where lawlessness, corruption, violence, drugs, immorality, crime, unemployment, unequal opportunities, are all synonyms for ZanuPF

Attack any of that & you're pro-Opposition; a Western project; a threat to 'our sovereignity'

Such is our tragedy
15. Hopefully, when this dust settles, the citizens will be reminded that we can't carry on like this.

ZanuPF is willing to threaten, cancel & attack anyone to keep us all polarized,- so long they remain in power.

Leaders fix problems.
They don't silence voices!

enkosi!!

1. It would be a travesty of history, to "commemorate" 🇿🇼's #UnityDay, without chronicling what that day means.

By & large, it's a stark reminder of the violent DNA of the Zanu party, & their persisting thirst for uncontested political dominance, that continues to spill blood.
2. #UnityDay came about, when Mugabe & his allies, shifted from the use of brutal force (Gukurahundi) to the use of dialogue (Unity accord), to institute their envisioned one party state.

Today should actually be a day of introspection & national mourning, and not celebration.
3. Post the inaugural post-independence election, Zanu instituted a politically motivated genocide, on Matebeleland & Midland regions, as punishment for supporting the Nkomo led Zapu.

Tragically, the untold consequences of the Zanu Gukurahundi evilness is yet to be fully told.

1. Mhofu, @drjaytee87, was actually laughing about it a few minutes ago

What many miss is that citizens aren't stupid at all.
They can identify an institution which represents their interests & will support it

They also have no problems identifying their leaders/representatives
2. It's only a ruling party that can abuse state tools, to institute a 'one party state'.

The best an Opposition party can do, is appeal significantly to the voters, thus acquire massive citizens' support, to the detriment of its competitors.

Everything else is whataboutism.
3. It's only those with a naive appreciation of our political dynamics, who can claim that one Opposition is closing space for their own activities.

They sheepishly think hijacking pro-state propaganda against the main Opp, will transfer It's support to their own projects.

1. A few days ago, @MbalulaFikile was interviewed on @eNCA where he spoke about how some @MYANC elders were concerned by some of his 'weak character traits'.

On his own admission, part of that trait, is his unproductive youthful exuberance, which makes him act/speak prematurely.
2. No measured individual, let alone SG of the oldest political party in the region, goes on air & says "we don't subscribe to regime change in Zimbabwe."

In doing so, @MbalulaFikile is bastardizing our constitution which envisioned "regime change", through national elections.
3. "Regime change" is a function of democracy.

Its embarrassing that @MbalulaFikile accuses the "British & Americans" of wanting regime change, & ANC of disapproving "regime change", when both would mean undue political interference.

It's a patently nonsensical utterance.

1] The 'telling reality' that 'no MDC old guard speakes authoritatively for or about CCC' is a burden you should carry alone.

You should carry that burden because of your insistence that CCC isn't a new party, when your whole thread shows otherwise.

CCC has no MDC old guard!
2] Doesn't the fact that 'MDC old guard' aren't 'authoritative figures in CCC' (whatever that actually means), show that CCC isn't a direct replica of MDC(A) politics?

This is simple comprehension, which shouldn't be missed by a layman on the streets, let alone a whole Professor
3] How do you reconcile the laughable claim that CCC is a one cult, by also observing that Fadzayi & Os are both reps of its communication department?

Isnt it an operation mechanisms, that 2 other individuals, besides Adv Chamisa, are speaking authoritatively on behalf of CCC?

1. Quite the contrary.

It is actually the propaganda that CCC is a renamed MDC-A that is childish!
More so, coming from a man who was fundamentally opposed to the formation of a new party, and subsequent dumping of the MDC name & everything that came with it

CCC is a new party!
2. The political narrative that desperately characterizes CCC, as merely a renamed MDC-A has no basis whatsoever.

Understandably though, that propaganda is mere politicking.

The proponents of that narrative find residence in two distinct political groups.
3. The first grouping is that of current MDC members.

In their minds, it was impossible for Adv Chamisa & allies to drop everything & start afresh.

By & large, that group benefit from any protracted fight for the MDC name, as it gives them attention & political relevance.
