We're deep into the 500- 600 ppm atmospheric CO2e zone as we reach 1.5/2°C and rising. We're in 'deep shit' according to scientists. Slow down to dismantle the monstrous killer machinery of this Extinction Economy. 🧵
1. James Hansen warns we're at 561 ppm CO2e, and in danger of 2°C by the 2040s and on track for 10°C eventually.

2. The NOAA say that 'In terms of CO2 equivalents, the atmosphere in 2021 contained 508 ppm, of which 415 is CO2 alone. The rest comes from other gases.'

Look at where the black line is heading..

3. "The obvious acceleration of the breakdown of our stable climate simply confirms that—when it comes to the climate emergency—we are in deep, deep shit" ~@ProfBillMcGuire, professor emeritus of geophysical and climate hazards at University College London

4. Climate chaos is here. We can and must act fast to move away from today's industrial capitalism which already threatens extinction through ultra-destructive agriculture & ocean-emptying, logging, pollution, road-building, mining, construction, etc.

BREAKING: one of the world's leading scientists on extinction says 70% of all Earth's big animals (mammals, birds) have been wiped out since 1918, along with 90% of SE Asia's tropical forests since 2000, and 98% of big ocean fish since 1973 - the rapid mass extinction scenario 🧵
1. The industrial agriculture of global capitalism is behind the mass annihilation of plants and animals. Pollution, habitat destruction, over-exploitation of resources, and climate change cannot all be dealt with by the economy that is causing extinction. cbsnews.com/news/agricultu…
2. Capitalism = ongoing forest destruction and 2/2.5°C by 2040- 2060. Industrial fishing, pesticides, etc are driving rapid extinction.
We must slow down, create radically better systems as the world is radically altered by processes already underway.

The global climate system is in a catastrophic phase. 🧵
1.

Emissions should have peaked decades ago, and certainly by 2022. Now, IPCC calculations point to 2/2.5°C and rising or even more by 2050 - 2090.

Watch and listen to this very brief but explosive video:

2. Capitalism means cataclysmic 2/2.5°C by 2040 - 2060. Where are the journalists?

'Human race cannot survive record rate of atmospheric methane and CO2 increase.'

Incredible.
Worrying.
This does not bode well. 🧵

How many journalists are warning of gathering ecosystem collapse as this miserable economic system sets up cataclysmic global warming of 1.5/2°C and rising that will threaten billions of lives by the 2030s/40s? 🧵
We may expect:

1.5C by 2020s/30s
2C by 2030s/40s

2.25-2.75°C by 2040s is possible.

carbonbrief.org/analysis-when-…

1.5C: 1.5 billion face moderate/high levels of risk in 2 or more of the water, energy, food & environment sectors
2C: 2.7 billion
3C: 4.6 billion

Who will acknowledge that ecosystems are collapsing?

Apocalyptic levels of forest degradation and deforestation combined with rising fossil fuel emissions which won't peak until 2023 at the earliest (a fact even optimistic scientists say is 'bleak') confirms industrial capitalism promises climate horror at 2/2.5°C by 2040- 2060. 🧵
1. We can act fast to move away from industrial capitalism which already threatens extinction through ultra-destructive agriculture & ocean-emptying, logging, pollution, road-building, mining, construction, etc, in order to protect species & everyone.
🧵⬇️:
2. Global emissions were meant to peak immediately in 2022 (2020-2025) to avoid 2.5°C. It's considered not completely impossible by scientists sticking to consensus assumptions.

The message is clear. Capitalism means climate-extinction horrors.
