A short thread on the voting for Speaker of the house.

We all know McCarthy isnt a good guy; he isnt changing his stripes. If the criticism is right, he’s Paul Ryan 2.0.

I understand what the Freedom Caucus is doing, we cant just accept the status quo of people like Paul Ryan & his proteges in leadership any more. I support what their demands are. They are for *us*.

But, lets talk soberly— the Freedom Caucus has laid down the gauntlet & will not relent. McCarthy’s chances are zero, they have the votes to stop him & his agenda is clear. An impasse has developed.

For what its worth, Im proud of them- i believe this fight is needed. The only real way out of this is for McCarthy to realize its never going to happen unless he accepts their terms, or he withdraws. If he withdraws, there must be someone suitable without the dane baggage.

Is that Scalise? I dont think so. I like Steve, but he’s been allied on the side of GOP-E several times & its rubbed me the wrong way & ill bet the FC, too.

I’m hearing ‘dark horse’ Zeldin. Is he palatable to the FC? Maybe. Maybe thats where this ends up. But consider: is McCarthy independent? Pfftt, he brought GOP-E scum Frank Luntz with him today. We learn two things from this: McCarthy is owned & being controlled & has no….

..intention of relenting. Its not been made clear enough to him he doesn’t control his own destiny. But there’s more at play here: remember how GOP-E scum in NC went after @tracybeanz for stepping up to enter & change local politics? She’s maga. The Est bent over backwards..

..to stop any one in NC from trying to wrest power from the corrupt criminals. Understand this isnt about McCarthy, its about keeping control of the House for the Est, or losing it to #maga which means ACTUAL representation of We The People.

From Frank Luntz to Karl Rove to Ronna Romney to Mitch McConnell, they fear losing control. Thats what this speaker’s battle is about.

But i want to urge caution:

This is a gamble. A very, VERY High Stakes Poker game. Who will flinch first? McCarthy? FC? What if McCarthy GOP-E allies align w the left & elect far left extremist Hakeem Jeffries as speaker? What happens to oversight then? With GOP checkmated imagine what #AmericanKGB will do

This is a dangerous game, i hope the FC really knows what its doing. @RepMattGaetz comments about being ok w a speaker Jeffries is alarming. Either that’s one hell of a poker bluff, or we are risking everything on a fool’s bet.

I dont have a Crystal ball so i cant tell you whats going to happen- only can say that this is the biggest high stakes poker game i’ve ever seen in politics.
