The phrase you'll be hearing constantly will be "Conversion Therapy" & you need to remember this is yet another attempt at corrupting language. The definition is so broad that if you dare to ask if the girl claiming she's a boy is absolutely sure, that's conversion therapy 2/

The "End Conversion Therapy" petition was started by @ECTScotland (anonymous little group of @scottishgreens leaning activists) who conveniently conflate pressure on LGB people to abandon their sexual orientation with explorative therapy into people questioning their "gender" 3/

The petition was passed to the same committee that just handled the #GRRBill, with Convenor @joeFitzSNP & deputy convenor @MaggieChapman. @SP_EHRCJ heard the evidence and made a recommendation to @Scotgov & they said "make it law"! 5/

Words to strike fear into any rational, enlightened Scot, particularly one that has just experienced the horror of the passing of the #GRRBill - the introduction of legislation by the end of 2023 (we have visions of more panicky midnight hearings just before Xmas). 5/

But we ask when reading about this topic, think about anyone who is approaching a counsellor or therapist for help with a "gender" issue, wouldn't you expect, want, someone who will ask questions to understand the landscape of the discomfort? 8/

If you read the Cass Review (a review into the treatment of children by NHS England with gender discomfort) you will know that the discomfort is frequently accompanied by anxiety, perhaps history of abuse, perhaps a diagnosis of autism. 9/

Shouldn't a therapist see the whole story & not overshadow any existing conditions with a declaration by a little girl that she's actually a boy? In the same way we don't affirm beliefs of people with anorexia (a discomfort with their body) that they're fat & need to lose weight,

our counsellors must be allowed to explore claims by patients that they're the "wrong" sex, particularly before entry to a medical pathway. This proposed legislation is intended to stop that, to criminalise the process. We just want #ExplorativeTherapy to be legal, don't you? 11/
