1. Watching #McCarthy humiliated I try to not forget the people doing it to him are insurrectionists. McCarthy deserves it because he touched a coup conspiracy. We need to harshly judge any member who voted to overturn an election in a show of support for a violent coup attempt.
2. The 14th Amendment bans the members who voted yea on Jan 6 who were re-elected from being sworn an act that will further desecrate the Capitol. Traitors like Gaetz, Boebert, Taylor-Green and Perry should not be sworn.
3. I think a motion to disqualify them might be in order. What do we know about the other insurgents? Were others involved in the coup? If we're going to have all day GOP Schadenfreude let's make it really good. Change the floor activity to huge disqualification motion.
4. Make it the sequel to the Jan 6 Committee. Call it the Purge.

1. The grounds they give are no doubt true but might not be the principal reason. If they were to charge him for the insurrection (and IMO that's what the law and the facts support) would they take a position that they have to defend him for it? I think not.
2. Also, this is unopposed. Not a big deal normally but when you are pretty sure prosecutors are talking to his counsel who can agree to not force DOJ to pull the trigger by Jan 17, a decision to have no objection is an easy one. Just a bread crumb but a meaningful one.
3. So assuming this is granted, I'll start 30 day clock on his charges. If they respond at the end and support defending Trump, then we may get an idea that they are not going to charge him for the insurrection.

1. Good 🧵
If the Democrats gave him the votes it would work. Just removing them with the current rules would not lower the threshold. Only death does that. But would 2/3 of the house vote to remove them? My rough math says the Dems would need 75 GOP to vote for expulsion.
2. That's a Constitutional requirement that could not be changed by House Rule. If I wanted to play the foil for the GOP hopes of an outcome that does not give the Democrats more power, I would start to circulate the idea of removing the
3. four who were referred to the the Ethics Committee. But that would include McCarthy. Make it their "Give Us Barabbas!" moment. We might get the insurgents to vote for it. If you want to start a rock fight, somebody has to throw a rock.

Russia is desperately trying to reinforce #Kreminna. If it falls #Luhansk will likely soon follow. Ukraine should tell them that the only ceasefire they will respect is the one that includes Russia's total withdrawal from all occupied territory.
2. The temperature in occupied Ukraine will fall from the current 4c to -13c by Saturday afternoon. The frigged temperatures will not be the only thing that the Russian occupiers have to dread. As the temperature falls the clouds will vanish leaving clear air for satellites.
3. Some satellites have IR detectors and will spot Russian troop concentration who give off heat as they sleep. Ukraine does not have to rely on US satellites with dozens of commercial satellites selling the data. With HIMARS and now JDAMs no Russian force within 75 miles of

The Clerk gavels in the session.
2. The House members elect are now voting by electronic device to determine if a quorum is present. 218 is a quorum.

1. Early report was that Putin {Путин} was planning to spend the New Year holiday in the doomsday bunker under Yamantau Mountain with his family. It sounded delightful. Then I saw a report he was in Sochi. I haven't had confirmation either way but I can confirm that the
2. propaganda that warned of trouble in Moscow proved how easy it is to impact Putin's command decisions. It caused him to put on a brutal show of force in Moscow. Not the actions of someone who thinks they're in full control. And I don't think he'd go to Sochi.
3. I live on an Island with big US military bases that was threatened with invasion 81 years ago. Back then the enemy didn't have drones. They had to steam 6,500 km. Ukraine has drones that can reach his Dacha and return in a day. It doesn't appear hardened. He's a sitting duck.

1. When I look at depositions in this case, I always start with the attorneys representing the witnesses. It can tell me things that won't appear in the transcript. Looking at Kash Patel's team I found an interesting player who may have gone unnoticed.
2. Patel hired the Husch Blackwell firm. I looked at bios for each of the lawyers who appeared. First, I got an impression from the large number, including people with no apparent white collar experience, Patel is not paying for it and the firm is feeding at a very rich trough.
3. But one of the names was no longer on the directory having gone through an apparent career change since the deposition. And that missing soldier was also likely a witness to the skullduggery in the Tяump Whitehouse related to Patel and our old pal Devin Nunes.
