Matrix Energy was incorporated in 2004, it started just like every other trucking-oil logistics company with over 12 million liters of petrol and diesel on daily basis. It later made its way into the mid & downstream oil sector.

Prior to Buhari government in 2015, Matrix Energy had already more than 300 direct-indirect staff before the fallout with GEJ-PDP support.

UNDER BUHARI GOVERNMENT:

“In late 2015, Matrix nevertheless received a license to import refined products. ✅

In July 2020, Matrix, in conjunction with VITOL, successfully secured a five-year-term contract as an off-taker lender with the NNPC which granted the company access to 30,000bpd, thus allowing Matrix as an indigenous African trader to expand its presence in a space hitherto dominated by international traders.

Matrix Energy Group was one of the companies that the Federal Government awarded oil prospecting licenses in 2022. Beyond the oil and gas sector, Aliu also has interests in the financial industry, engineering, petroleum, trading, and logistics.”

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) yesterday concluded the 2020 marginal oilfield bid round, the first successful bid since 2003 when 24 assets were put on offer. 😶

The process, which culminated in the presentation of letters to the bid winners in Abuja by the industry regulator, started in June last year, with 57 marginal fields spanning land, swamp and offshore put up for lease by the federal government.

This came just as (NNPC) yesterday unfolded plans to acquire shares in five more private refineries in Nigeria, bringing to six its interests in refineries it is targeting. However, during the bid round, the DPR stated that 161 successful companies were shortlisted to advance to the final stage. Those shortlisted were selected from 591 entities that applied for pre-qualification.

Marginal fields are smaller oil blocks typically developed by indigenous companies and have remained unproduced for a period of over 10 years.

Some of the companies, which emerged winners included:

Matrix Energy 🤓, AA Rano, Andova Plc, Duport Midstream, Genesis Technical, Twin Summit, Bono Energy, Deep Offshore Integrated, Oodua Oil, MRS and Petrogas.Others are: North Oils and Gas, Pierport, Metropole, Pioneer Global, Shepherd Hill, Akata, NIPCO, Aida, YY Connect, Accord Oil, Pathway Oil, Tempo Oil and Virgin Forest, among others.

Matrix Energy now has a magnificent Head quarters in Ikoyi.

Right after Obasanjo-Atiku administration. Due to the persistent and perennial failure and crisis that had accompanied power sector reforms in the country that threw 80% vast part of the country into perpetual darkness for years.

In June President Yar’Adua declared a "state of emergency in our power sector." After PDP wasted $16 billion during OBJ& @atiku government.

On November 1, 2007. President Yar Adua laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 140 megawatts Aba power plant to be constructed by a private power company, Geometric Power Systems Limited at the plant site in Osisioma-Ngwa, Abia State, not many Nigerians believed that the project would materialize at all.

The CEO of Geometric Power Limited was Professor Bart Nnaji, who was a professor of Robotics at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Aba project is valued at around US$250 million, the majority of which is being secured through a consortium of multilateral institutions including the
International Finance Corporation (IFC), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF).

An investment of over $50 million is being made to rehabilitate the existing distribution lines and extend the network with over 100 km of transmission lines. This should significantly reduce current technical and non-technical losses on the
network

The project is strategically located in Aba -giving GPL the sole right and responsibility to generate and distribute electricity in the ring-fenced area. It consists of a 140 MW open-cycle-gas-turbine plant, which is fed by a 30 km pipeline with gas supplied by the Shell Petroleum Development company.

Lol. Most of my Christian brothers and sisters fuming about my post. Believe me I was like y’all until I travel to Israel 😏
