Each and every single person who put aside their political conditioning, biases, bigotry, hatred, need to be on team, stay safe, or safely protect their position in their social or professional network, or appear “level headed” to family or friends…

who stepped out and figured out there was something to figure out;

who took any stand that was deemed unwelcome by those who claimed they kept us safe or stood for any question or questioning or simply allowed questions or rejected policies no matter how small or when or how large their voice or their reach…

and didn’t reject a person, even if they thought their position in the arithmetic of the so called greater good might be wrong;

Wow.

So many people needed that or just needed to see that. And with so much focus on safety the helpers were often silenced or shunned - what a challenge with so little reward.

Those who somehow or simply or suddenly instinctually knew, had the the experience to intuit, or wisdom that came with age or innocence of youth, or pain of terrible tragedy to themselves or those they love or both - that no matter what happens, no matter if and when or never,

the people with the power to and who have been willfully committing and causing so much pain (no matter if because they just enjoyed them selves, wanted to hide their actions, were cowards or are simply inhumane and anti human monsters) this has been and

…you are essential. More than history can pattern.

Each single time we leave a record, stand for basic ethics, take a risk that others might cause hurt, or your are wrong and strive to make it right, or urge decency or demand science not be turned into theology or people reduced to their utility - it matters.

Not the way that word has been so overused. It does and it also is matter.

It means more than we may ever see in our lifetimes or perhaps even our children will.

This is a war on memory in addition to everything else this is.

We will win this war. That’s what humanity does - there is always a remnant. That’s assured.

But because of your basic decency and inability to simply ignore what some just know - it’s a remnant of so much wisdom that it’s a declaration that has been said before and a guarantee they this promise is kept.

“We will outlive them.”

I don’t know how to say all of that more simply. And many won’t have the vaguest idea what I mean. But one day soon they may need to look for the helpers otherwise it’s all too dark and overwhelming.

I’ve been so blessed to know so many “angels” that I can tell you without a doubt that as we approach the reaffirming and reclaiming of our lives, and reset our principles into their rightful place as our most trusted sources; it’s clear to me that indeed

there are human *beings* who link around the globe and protect, their great “wings make a spherical net…” and so do their migrations.

And… there even may be, as the character Harper by Tony Kushner visioned a strange truth- “Souls were rising, from the earth far below, souls of the dead, of people who had perished, from famine, from war, from the plague,

and they floated up, like skydivers in reverse, limbs all akimbo, wheeling and spinning.

And the souls of these departed joined hands, clasped ankles, and formed a web, a great net of souls, and the souls were three-atom oxygen molecules of the stuff of ozone, and the outer rim absorbed them and was repaired. Nothing’s lost forever.

In this world, there’s a kind of painful progress. Longing for what we’ve left behind, and dreaming ahead.”
