in fairness I have always had a misanthropic streak but the combination of my sister dying of cancer and society immediately after deciding it does not give a shit about vulnerable people and will make that clear every day has fully pushed me over the edge
If we’re taking about high school English books when I was in 10th grade we read Linden Hills and around the part where the mortician is putting fish heads in corpse’s vaginas I was like “what is happening”
it’s been at least 15 years and that doesn’t really SEEM like something that would be in the novel for English class but like….. wasn’t it
An underappreciated critical link in the construction of the “most kids with gender dysphoria desist” narrative was…. fuckin Ray Blanchard :\
Ok basically every historical step in the construction is almost entirely unappreciated which is a problem because THE ACTUAL EXPLANATION OF THE DESISTANCE LITERATURE IS HISTORICAL but Ray is still kind of a dark horse
The whole idea of “persisting” and “desisting” treats the childhood diagnosis as congruent with the adulthood diagnosis, just at different life stages. They are absolutely not congruent and were never designed to be.
