Good idea, we should go straight to the source to find out what advocates of degrowth consider degrowth before arguing against it. Let's take a look at these slides from the 2010 Barcelona 2nd Degrowth Conference held by world renowned degrowth experts and leading institutions.
For some background: the 2nd International Degrowth Conference follows from the 1st Degrowth Conference held in Paris in 2008 with support from the "Limits to Growth" publisher, the Club of Rome.
A major pillar of the degrowth movement is a "moratoria on new infrastructures."
Infrastructure that must clearly be abandoned are nuclear, high speed rail and large scale dams. Existing infrastructure must be converted from car-based to walking and cycling.
Degrowthers are all about a transition to "renewable energy" aka wind and solar. They either outright believe in peak oil theory or just argue for "leaving resources in the ground." Again, nuclear energy is out of the question for degrowthers.
And, most importantly (IMO): "The degrowth movement welcomes the declining rate of population growth and peak population."
In summary, key pillars of the degrowth movement are:
- Anti-nuclear
- Anti-infrastructure
- Pro-biking and walking as a substitute for actual infrastructure
- Anti-resource development
- Anti-population growth
In other words: degrowth is an anti-human, Gaia worship movement.

The spin on Trump's remarks about NATO obscures a larger truth: that Davos, the IMF & Blackrock are scared of his next presidency.
President Trump vs. NATO Atlanticism and the Globalist Carbon Cult
Trump is making all the right people mad, for all the right reasons
President Donald Trump received a slew of fantastic endorsements last month. I don’t mean his landmark victory at the Iowa Caucus. I’m referring to the verbal retching coming from the worst Davos devils swarming around the annual World Economic Forum. They were all vocal about the thought of a second Trump term striking fear in their hearts. It’s vitally important to understand exactly why that is.
Christine Lagarde
“This is obviously a threat.”
Christine Lagarde is the President of the European Central Bank and was previously the managing director of the International Monetary Fund from 2011-2019. On January 11, 2024, just ahead of the World Economic Forum at Davos, Lagarde was interviewed on the French news station L’Événement and spoke candidly about her fear of a second Trump term.
“This is obviously a threat,” she says, then lists off her three top reasons why she thinks Trump is a threat: “Just look at the trade tariffs, just look at the commitment to NATO service, just look at the fight against climate change.” What all of these items boil down to, is war, whether it’s military conflict with other nations or economic warfare on the average citizen via “climate change” austerity, Lagarde and the institutions she represents are hungry for war, and Trump refuses to play ball.
What’s funny about these Hammer & Sickle radlib nerds is they think all American patriotism is that of the bourgeois state. Working class proletarian patriotism is completely invisible to them.
I’m someone who did not stand for the pledge in school bc I didn’t want to just follow orders.
I’m also someone who is very aware of the role our bourgeois state has played in policing and terrorizing the world under our people’s national banner.
It’s for this reason that I have deep love, and real patriotism for American working people — I can see how our struggle is the same as the rest of the world — we have a common enemy: the globalist ruling class elites.
Alex got me this information packet from Indian Point Nuclear from 1988 and it’s actually the coolest thing ever.
There’s even a whole booklet that talks about the backwards, irrational, anti-scientific, anti-nuclear advocates.
It is amazing that the same people who shout “believe science” when it comes to imposing “climate change” austerity completely ignore the scientific community when it comes to nuclear energy
Leaders from 3 Indigenous Nations confronting LandBack protestors at the Fairy Creek logging site:
"We have an inherent right to our governance and it's being exercised today.
We have an inherent right to an economy on our land that is being exercised today."
Condescending anarchists say "look at YouTube" and proceed to regurgitate pseudoscience about carbon, nonsense about "children not being able to breathe" and vague threats about how we "only have 3 years left"
If it isn't abundantly clear at this point, that "LandBack" is intellectual property of the Malthusian ruling class and part of their degrowth agenda, it should be now.
Living in the United States right now reminds me of how Adam Curtis describes the end of the USSR in HyperNormalisation
"The Soviet Union became a society where no one believed in anything or had any vision of the future...
... a society where everyone knew that what their leaders said was not real because they could see with their own eyes that the economy was falling apart but everybody had to play along and pretend that it was real because no one could imagine any alternative one"
This is perfectly describes our current culture of nihilism and pessimism. The fakeness of our reality seems to grow exponentially every year. We are constantly moving away from a collective consciousness—a society—into an individualized experiential simulation—a carnival ride.
This guy is a prime example of someone who has no idea what he's talking about, saying whatever random shit comes into his head to be an Online Leftist Influencer. This is a perfect distillation of what is wrong with the left and their neurotic obsession with climate change:
"The World Economic Forum, which has no real power"
The World Economic Forum was literally founded on the bullshit ideas of The Club of Rome whose founder openly admits they came up with climate change as justification for a war against humanity aka depopulation aka genocide. The WEF is the reason you believe what you believe.
