For those who want to understand Chinese culture, I suggest you read "Journey to the West". #西游记
It is not a simple myth novel or adventure novel, but a textbook about China's bureaucracy and political system - How does China's society work.
History and now.
If your Chinese reading level is high enough, you can try to read "Dream of the Red Chamber".#红楼梦
Similarly, it is not a simple romantic story. It is the peak of ancient Chinese literature and the interpretation of China's social system formed over thousands of years.
If you are interested in war, you can read the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". #三国演义
It is the heroic epic of Chinese people - the values of Confucianism.
It is a war novel, but as Mao Zedong said, "it is not only war, but also diplomacy and politics."
As for "The Water Margin", it's not a novel similar to Robin Hood.#水浒传
It tells how Chinese people fought against the imperial power and state machinery.
It is a dark & tragic novel.
It describes hundreds of roles, both ancient people - also ourselves live in the present.
The above is my ranking of the four best-known novels of pre-modern Chinese literature according to my personal preference.
I believe that every Chinese has its own ranking.
What is your ranking?🤔

It's absolutely fantastical to think that US can challenge China in South China Sea. Also worth noting that there is no defence against hypersonic missiles at the moment, so US carriers would basically be sitting ducks.😅
cnn.com/2023/01/09/pol…
And US thinking that Vietnam would ally with them against China was truly the height of comedy. It takes stunning lack of historical and geopolitical knowledge to assume that would be the case.🤣
“There is no ‘Ukraine model’ for Taiwan,” the report said... “Whatever the Taiwanese are going to fight the war with, they have to have that when the war begins.”
... ...
I regard this report as an ad for the US to sell weapons to Taiwan.😅

The computer was invented in the west. Its keyboard is designed for English inputting.
How to input Chinese characters through keyboard puzzled Chinese people for a long time - until the invention of Chinese input method.
Through the Chinese input method, it not only realizes the inputtingof thousands of Chinese characters, but also greatly improves the input efficiency.
For example, if I want to express "May everything turn out as you wish", I just need to input "WSRY" - 万事如意.
Through the application of AI tech, Chinese input method can learn the user's usage habits, and sometimes predict the Chinese words or sentences you want to input.
This makes Chinese input a very easy thing.

In 1999, how do Western media say about China?👇🏼
... ...
1. "At best, China is a second-rank middle power that has mastered the art of diplomatic theater."
2. "China is better understood as a theoretical power."
foreignaffairs.com/articles/asia/…
3. "In 1997 China accounted for 3.5 percent of world GNP (in 1997 constant dollars, the United States was 25.6 percent). China ranked seventh in the world, ahead of Brazil and behind Italy."
4. "Few economists trust modern Chinese economic data."
5. "Taking all these qualifications into account, China's economy is effectively in recession."
6. "Despite some positive changes during the past 20 years of reform, China's economy has clearly run into huge structural impediments. "

"China bans AI-generated media without watermarks."
... ...
I support China govt's new regulation, otherwise our Weibo or Tiktok will be full of fake photos and videos composed by AI, such as "President Biden and Little Girl".🤔
arstechnica.com/information-te…
We're soon to enter an era where all documents, from pic to audio to video, is going to need to be cryptographically signed as authentic or generated.
... and there are going to need to be strict controls put in place for software and hardware makers to ensure compliance both from a creation and consumption standpoint.

Many young people do not know "COCOM" - Coordinating Committee for Multilateral Export Controls.
Since the founding of New China, China has been subject to sanctions and embargoes by the West.
2100+ kinds of goods are prohibited from selling to China, including swimming suits.😅
Established in 1949 as an economic adjunct of NATO, COCOM was organized to ensure that trade with the Soviet Union and its allies did not enable the Soviet bloc to gain access to militarily relevant technology by coordinating the export control policies of the member countries.
As a refinement to COCOM and in response to Chinese involvement in the Korean War, the United States petitioned for the creation of a separate committee, CHINCOM, to multilaterally control exports to communist China in 1952.
